I'm not sure that a stripper with a "free lance" would really do it for me. When I read the title stripper and free Lance, I thought "Lance Armstrong is now a stripper? Holy smokes!" |

It always strikes me as odd that we Dutchies have always been frowned upon for having legalized prostitutes... The hookers in the windows in Amsterdam and so on, whereas you Americans have strip clubs at every corner of the street, strip-o-grams, topless-waitress restaurants, a booming porn industry, and one of the highest porn-watch-rates across the world.
Then we Dutchies get this reputation concerning sex Doesn't make sense to me... I'd find the normalcy with which you regard all that far more of a threat to a relationship than legalized prostitutes that no man in a good relationship would go to. |

That doesn't make sense to me either Crystal. I didn't know Dutchies had legalized prostitution. It makes me wonder if they were to legalize it here if it would cut down on the porn industry? Or change how some of these men view women, I imagine it would be with a little more respect, rather than something to gawk at. Interesting! |

It baffles me to crystal, you see the hypocrisy in some of the threads on here, the threads that mention even a small bit of sex or something are looked at up in the thousands and a subject that is political or religious is very low comparison. yet many on here preach morality The only problem with prostitution for me is if they are trafficked or pimps are involved. I love Amsterdam, and the Netherlands. will be there in September |

Well, but then nothing is as simple as all that. There are many places where prostitution is legal, but no one even there, has declared it to be as honorable and respectable as all other pursuits. Had anyone done so, we would have seen national positive recognition being awarded to the best of those who ply the trade. In some places, it is considered so normal for married people to have alternative sex partners, that what I call "cheating," is considered more than acceptable...but even in those places, the people still pretend to devote themselves exclusively to each other, and children born outside the official marriage must fight to be recognized as legal heirs, if they are allowed to do so at all. I think the reason why the US appears to be more riddled with contradictions and hypocrisy, has more to do with our multicultural makeup, than anything else. We take our self-indulgent behaviors from one culture, and our self-righteous indignation from another, trying to pretend that we can literally claim to possess the best of both worlds. |

Or change how some of these men view women, I imagine it would be with a little more respect, rather than something to gawk at. Interesting! Yes, been like that for quite some time over here, not exactly sure how long, but over a decade, prolly closer to 2 decades. Prostitutes pay taxes like everybody else. I'm not sure if they have to pay VAT (sales tax) as they are regarded as 'own company' or not. I do remember there was talk of that when they first changed this, but cannot remember for sure. As for our men... I have noticed Dutch men are quite different from most others. Apparently Dutch men are called "Metero men" or "feminine men" by foreigners. I think that's a load of crap, many Dutch men are far more balanced in their masculinity, closer to being empowered. But what that means is generally not understood so it's labeled "feminine men". Most still believe that being masculine is this macho cowboy type of guy. But such men tend to harbour a lot of imbalanced masculine and feminine energy inside, so they're not all that empowered. For some reason or other we seem to be more ahead in the balancing act of feminine and masculine compared to most other people. Whether legalized prostitution contributed to that, no idea. I think we are just different in general. We are generally speaking quite open about sex / sexuality. Most, not everyone, we too have a small bible belt, but they're usually the worst, just behind closed doors, lol. But in spite of our openness, I've never heard of anyone going to a strip-club let alone going there often, or with the same idea you go out to a pub. Never heard of topless-waitress restaurants either. There's bound to be nightclubs with that 'feature' but going to a nightclub is not common practice here either. Different people, different culture. Oh, what was really interesting... I was reading this blog of a prostitute a while back in which she tells about her work. The things she comes across, customers she refuses and why etc. etc. Really interesting to read! Many have a normal relationship, rent a room with a window to work from, and go home when work is done. So many of these women work solo, the girls keep an eye out for each other. Not the kind of crap you see in TV series where pimps beats the crap out of them when they don't get a new client soon enough. Of course there is always a deeper darker scene that isn't so pretty where women are forced to sell themselves or else... But legalizing it prolly helped a lot to stop that from happening. If it's legal, they can also take legal actions after all. But it was very interesting to read. |

Just friends of course, I mean, I got a man and very happy with him too! But could be nice to meet and have a chat, depending on where and when of course, and provided you're up for it. |

Yes, that would be cool. Will arrange something. A thought came to me when I saw 'blondy 'in another thread. she is from new Zealand. It must have been named by the Dutch? |

The Dutch were also the first to find Australia, we discovered it accidentally. We mapped part of the west coast of it, but apparently decided it wasn't worth our while because there was nothing to get (spices mostly what the Dutch were after in the day) so they let it be. If memory serves we did name it as well, but I can't for the love of the goddess remember what, lol. Then the English found it... I take it a similar thing must have happened to New Zealand as we indeed have "Zeeland" as a province over here. |

I must say. The English and Dutch were very naughty in those days |

If it's legal, they can also take legal actions after all. But it was very interesting to read. It is very interesting. A little off topic, but I remember studying sociology and in Societies that are open about sex, nudity, and subjects that are usually "taboo" subjects in other cultures, there are a lot less sex crimes occurring. I agree with the hypocrisy, there are those who ridicule prostitutes, making it dirty and nasty, and the same ones doing the ridiculing will visit strip clubs and pay for lap dances and to watch a woman dance half naked or totally naked. But some how that's okay because they are "just watching"....it's a bunch of crap! There are many reasons why women get into this line of work, I don't feel the need or reason to judge them. And I have compassion for the ones who are forced into it. Some believe it's as simple as leaving the situation, but it's not always as simple as that. When I worked in a shelter for runaways, we had a 13 year old girl who was pimped out by Foster Parents. She was one angry messed up girl. Very sad! |
