Whatever they are, they come back with every site you visit.
Keep your walls up and filter everything. For the most part, they are helpful. |

I'm not sure what cookies are. I do erase mine once in awhile.
I was told that they are allowing companies to see what sites we visit to use in their advertising. I do not know if this is true. |

so its ok to erase them then ? it wont mess anything up in my computer or let ppl in it if i do right ?

erase them every npow and then. Don't use the save password feature to as when you erase cookies you will risk loosing this, Also check your cokkie settins in IE.

I think it just deletes the pages that you visited and passwords you entered, etc.
It shouldnt affect anything on your computer. You'll just have to reenter saved passwords. |

Its ok to delete cookies. Cookies are what websites use to show activity you have done. For instance, if you were in a forum and there are new posts that you have not read, the site knows this because of what your cookies said, and it marks those posts as "new" to you. It also keeps user names and sometimes passwords. It is also your recent history. Like when you start typing www. and then you enter a letter and it automatically puts in a website with a corresponding starting letter. I would only delete them once a month or so, but feel free to delete them as much as you want.

Cookies are used to store information such as your preferences on a site, authenticating, or remembering your items in an online shopping cart.
The downside is they can also be used for remembering userID and password (convenient but dangerous), tracking, and other types of malicious things. It doesn't hurt you to delete cookies, but it might make some of the sites you registered on not remember you. All in all, Ad-aware, and Spybot do a pretty good job of deleting malicious ones, most of which come from porn sites that want to track your activity (for what purpose?). |

adaware isnt so good anymore, they've changed it, I do not like it at all, but spybot S&D, google it, it will take care of everything for you, you just need to run it periodically. Now, S&D also is always running on your computer as to stop stuff before it gets into your system.

They've changed the interface to ad-aware, but you can still find some old versions of it. Just choose to update your searches, but not the program and you can keep it running in "classic mode."
The new version isn't so bad...and once you're used to it, is just like the old one. |

Leave your cookies alone.
And download and install WinPatrol (Google it.) Gods!!! |

It's ok to delete cookies =) I think people above cleared it up pretty well. They do store information such as logins, post info, ect. Sort of like a cache.

Cookies are alphnumeric files sites leave on your computer to help track ad clicking, website prefrences, "keep me logged in", online shopping, etc.
They are used by many sites to help make it easier to track you, save settings, log in and out, shop online, etc. You can delete them if you want. |
