Lets talk about things that are interesting to you.
Might be good practice for starting and maintaining messages with the people we want to meet here.

What are YOU interested in and why?

Me?
I like science, physics specifically.
I like cosmology, I find the scope of the Universe interesting.
I like philosophy, I find it interesting how other people think about things.

I have a great many interests and will talk with anyone about them.

I like survival strategies, camping, hiking and foraging plays a part in survival.

I like movies and music and just about anything that deals with art expression.

Lets just have some discussions not having to do with dating, relationships or desires. Just some interesting talk on a variety of interesting subjects.

Great topic Tom! It's funny, I was trying to come up with a "New Topic" to post that was along the lines of the other thread, but I like this, it fits so much more.

Some of my interest are:

Nature...seeing the natural beauty in the unadulterated Earth, exploring and discovering things that are new to me. And watching the cycle of the seasons transpire, the whole death and re birthing part of evolution.

Natural Remedies to Healing...keeping our bodies in tuned to nature aids the healing process in most cases. I like creating different remedies to treat different ailments.

Philosophy...understanding how things work, how others think, and who I am in relation to all that...the "whys" of it... particularly metaphysics, the nature of reality and being.

Spirituality...loving myself and others, growing and evolving spiritually in order to embrace the oneness of all that is. Connecting with the Earths energy and living in harmony with nature is a way of life that makes most sense to me.

Camping...for the peaceful aspect, I am interested in learning more about the survival aspect as well.

Other interests....watching movies; horseback riding; writing, hiking (both on nature trails and in the mountains); bike riding; going to the beach; visiting museums, natural landmarks, zoos (so long as they are in natural habitats), planetariums, places that have spiritual significance, such as Sedona Arizona, and Mayan ruins (haven't got to do that yet); fishing; and just going to a peaceful spot by a lake or river and being still.

I have many more as well.

Oh gosh...
Crystals... crystals crystals crystals! For their energy and healing purposes. crystals!

Spiritual stuff & Energy work, not what I do, but what I am

Writing - always been good at that, always liked it too. So getting a contract and getting published was a major milestone for me. Recognition.

Painting - always loved drawing and painting. Last years started a totally new, different range and way of painting.

Music - listening, but also playing drums (not in a band)

Oracle & Tarot cards, doing readings with them

The masculine & feminine, in individuals and society, how to balance it, get empowered etc. Very very very interested in that!

Nature & Gardening, although cutting back on gardening due to my physical condition and lack of time. Garden is too big, can't handle it by myself.

This is a place for us to list our interests in as much or as little detail as we decide. There is a reason for the topic aside from just talking about other things. It could help us get to know each other apart from the dating/relationship concerns that are common on a dating site. We don't exist in the dating/relationship frame of mind while interacting with life. I think that would get really old.

The fact that I enjoy looking at Matte Paintings used in movies is an interest that comes in under the heading of art appreciation. That bleeds into other artworks in different styles and media that includes model building and fractals. If we met, chances are I would want to spend time at an art museum, not just to say I went to the museum with you but because I really do like art.

I listed that I have music appreciation. I might go to a concert with you but I would rather have music playing in the background softly. Concerts are rowdy and noisy. They can be physically uncomfortable for me. It is a different type of experience that I feel should be unique and occasional. I have a wide range of music interests and I know what I like and don't. I could sit in a quiet auditorium and watch Stomp yet sitting thru an opera performance would be awful. I've partied at a Outlaws concert but been put off by a Def Leppard concert. Yet I listen to both.

The thing is, when we interact with others to see if they could be a match, there is much more than meets the eye when talking about interests. Our participation in this topic allows others to gain a better idea of the focal interests we list on our profiles. There are lots of topics that deal with the messaging we use to vet out another. One of the main concerns is that we all get messages with no substance. Not everyone has a clear understanding of what they list as interests.

I like camping could mean you like renting a cabin for a weekend and sitting around sipping drinks or it might mean packing a backpack and exploring a mountain for a weekend living off the land. This is a chance to list the specific things you like about camping.

Personally, I do what is called primitive camping. I sleep in a tent, cook over a campfire but I don't hunt my food. I carry a camping outfit that includes coolers and lamps and stuff like that. I tend to pick campsites.
Others take a camper while others just wander trails with a backpack. Its all camping.

Don't be shy.
There is no wrong answer.
Your interests are what makes you, you.

I figured out recently that almost all of my fascinations and interests are linked to the same core things in my inner self. Such as, I love history; fixing machines; and writing poetry, wise sayings, and other things. That all comes from the same core drive: I enjoy collecting together all the detailed information and observations I can manage, figure out how they interact, and then present my conclusions.

What I enjoy the most about life, is the subtle, sometimes delicate, sometimes clumsy, and sometimes even violent way all the large and small elements interact to give us what we see and feel. And my main interest, is discovering more of that.

Interesting...
Seems to me you would be interested in the concepts explored in Chaos Theory and Relativity. I like to explore those concepts as well. Its amazing just how much sense they make of our understanding of life, nature and behavior.

I would like to learn from each of you.
I'm interested in learning.
About almost anything.

At the moment I'm interested in head injury and brain function.
My niece recently had a head injury (she's doing better).
I find it curious and fascinating to watch the evolution of this. On the first day she had amnesia. Couldn't remember her town, her dog or her family.
But as we were watching tv in the hospital waiting room, there was something about evidence of life on other pkanets.c
At that point she could remember her convincing arguments about aliens and possibilities of life on other planets.
Then on her first day back to school she tripped and hit the back of her head. Not hard enought to cause damage. But she said it was a curious thing. Like when you hit the tv and the picture becomes sharper.
She said ot was like a lot of her memories popped back into place.
It's fascinating to watch the stages of her recovery

As far as interests go, mostly I like things that are calm and peaceful. Three things I enjoy and are loud - rock concerts. Thunderstorms. Fireworks displays. I love Independence Day/4th of July and can't get enough fireworks. A couple of times, in recent years, I made sure I was as close as possible I could be to watch fireworks. It's one of the best displays in western United States.

Have you ever watched 4th of July from the top of a mountain it's amazing. I got to watch my whole state shoot up in fireworks. I also like watching them near a still lake it's like watching two firework displays at once.

We learn something every moment we are alive. Sometimes it is insignificant and sometimes it is important to us.

I too find the brain and personalities interesting. I've read case studies where a person that had a stroke actually remapped their brain around the damage to regain functionality.
The brain is very complex.
Did you know that alcohol damages the brain's frontal lobe but that damage can be healed over time if the alcohol is removed?
I remember reading a website a few decades ago where they were attempting to map out the brain. That technology still exists but what made this site special was it was a graphical representation of a brain and allowed you to click into different parts to learn more. I think the name of the site was "The Brain". The front page was a picture of a human brain and you clicked different parts of it to find out more. I just found a site that may be related but it is very different than the one I was reading.
http://www.thebrain.com/

I attended a seminar on Effective Communication with the Dale Carnegie Institute in the early 90s. Part of that was a class on enhancing your memory skills. Basically, memory is association. The trick to having a workable memory is to assign associations to the things you wish to remember. During our public speaking class, we were tasked to give a presentation without notes. The trick was to assign associative memory to the things we would see while standing in front of the class. I can tell you, it works.

I like loud things too. Not people loud, I like the pressure waves that hit my body. I also like blood pressure cuffs. Thunderstorms are pressure changes. I also now live 22 feet above sea level. There is just something about the pressure that makes me feel good. I always wanted a blood pressure cuff that covers my whole body, that would feel really good!

I've watched real fireworks. From missles to small arms tracer rounds. Very beautiful but so deadly. Fireworks on a moonless night on the ocean is jaw dropping beauty. Wonderful colors against the backdrop of black with oh so many stars. Breathtaking!

Nature & Gardening, although cutting back on gardening due to my physical condition and lack of time. Garden is too big, can't handle it by myself.

I too love creativity. I took a lot of art classes. I almost chose Commercial Art and Graphics as my profession. I like creativity that is outside established methods. I have used a lot of different media in ways they were never intended. I find still life boring and abstracts exciting.
Don't really care for Picasso style tho.

I've played drums (I can keep up fairly well), Guitar, Keyboards plus I have composed a lot of electronic music using computers. I used to have Noteworthy Composer. http://noteworthycomposer.com/ Time took that away from me. Its expensive but they do have a trial/evaluation demo you can play with (careful, its addicting)
There is also a bunch of drum boxes you can play with like Hammerhead Rhythm Station http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/ which is free but limited (but you can splice samples together using Audacity). LMMS http://lmms.io/ is open source and free and actually very good.

I don't put a whole lot of energy into mystical concepts. I used to. I also don't believe in ghosts, possessions, hidden aliens on this planet or much of any conspiracies. I have lived over a half of a century and I have never...NEVER witnessed anything that is beyond reality.(well, except when I was tripping on LSD back in the 70s).
BUT, Just because I don't subscribe to something doesn't mean I can't let someone else believe what they want. Its like religion. I don't subscribe to religion but I understand that others find comfort there and that's okay with me. I just wish others would grant me the same freedom. My sister is very much into mysticism. You would probably love her home, crystals are all over the place and each one has a specific reason. But, she's happy so why should I care what gives her peace.

If I put a seed in dirt I will grow dirt. If I buy a plant it dies. The X had plants and shrubs and flowers everywhere. It was pleasant but I wasn't allowed to go near them, I seem to be lethal to the plant kingdom. I dunno what it is but I can maintain a fish tank either?

I have a great appreciation for the natural world. I even see beauty in a lighting strike. I also have appreciation for the constructs. Concrete can be beautiful. I see beauty all around me, notice it when others don't. Its amazing how many times I have shown beauty to another that never noticed it till I said something and pointed it out. People tend to not see the reality around them. The beauty is lost in the turmoil of their minds.

For awhile I subscribed to Christian Science beliefs concerning health (in a way). Christian Science involves God healing the body. I believed that the body heals itself. For a long time, mine did. The body can't heal age. As age started to take my health I needed medicines. I am now locked into a terrible dependency. While I do need certain meds for certain things I believe some could have alternatives and I am scheduled to talk with my doctor about ending or changing some of them.

DEFICIENCY SYMPTOMS: chronic fatigue, bone loss, constipation, depression, digestive disorders, dizziness, drowsiness, enlargement of the liver, eye disorders, hallucinations, headaches, labored breathing, memory loss, moodiness, nervousness, pernicious anemia, ringing in the ears, binge eating, and spinal cord degeneration.
I always found this information interesting and have shared it with many people.

For me, spirituality and philosophy go hand in hand. I love exploring how others see the Universe around them. I find it fascinating how there are a lot of people that can't understand that they are part of the Universe not someone looking at it. I see the Universe as a living thinking being of which we are just a small part of the whole. But...that's a whole lot of discussion better fitted to a dedicated topic.

Survival is not something you plan for as much as something that you adopt out of need. While it is comforting to stock up just in case, the true survival prep is in your state of mind and your resourcefulness. Everything is a resource...Everything.
I've camped in the NE and the MW of the United States. Lately my health has prevented me from camping but I hope to add MS, LA & AL to the destinations. I love camping near waterfalls.
This is Castor River Shut-ins near Fredericktown, Missouri. It is a low-regulation state park. Amazing place!

I have also done some spelunking in Southern PA. You haven't really camped till you spend a weekend deep in a cave. Lots of belly crawling but very well worth the trek.

My sister had horses on their farm a few years ago. She sold her last one just two years ago. Amazing animals. I used to call them her Yahoos.

I always wanted to go to the American Museum of Natural History in New York, NY. Would love to talk with Neil Degrasse Tyson at the Hayden Planetarium. I even wrote him a few letters (never got a response/didn't expect one). The guy is interesting and fun. Kinda reminds me a bit of Carl Sagan. I loved Cosmos from the moment I first saw it. Even bought his book Pale Blue Dot.

I have over 3 terabytes of movies. The average movie is 200 - 700 MB. Yes, I have thousands of movies. I converted my collection about 12 years ago and have been collecting and watching since. I write reviews, attend forums and have even sponsored neighborhood screenings outdoors. There is a list of my collection posted here.

My fishing and hunting days are over. Lost everything and just never rebought. I could, but I don't. Not sure why and I don't care enough to figure out why. I do know that if it comes to survival, I can do it.

Physically, my days of questing are over. Actually being at a place always trumps the virtual visit but that is just not possible for me anymore. But... I have been to the Moon, Mars, Venus and Pluto. I even made a few trips to the ends of the Universe.

I like listening to mellow or jazz music, piano, flute , guitar and violin instrumental music. It calms my spirit especially when I am depressed. Singing is my therapy when i'm alone and feeling lonely. I can sing like i have a concert for many hourslaugh laugh laugh Swimming one of my favorite sports, best exercise and my stress reliever. I may look so feminine most of my friends think I'm so prim and proper , well they get a surprise when they know that I am athletic I can play many sportshappy I love swimming, chess, basketball, volleyball, badminton, jet skiing and would be willing to take an adventure on sky diving and water rafting if given the chance. I love nature so much especially beaches and mountains. Love to go camping and mountain climbinghappy  being near with the nature let's my spirit feel free , independent and strengthen my inner self. I love poetry, I used to write poems but depends on my mood. If I am inspired writing poems is so easy for me words just come in my mind so easily. I love art, I used to draw land scapes and sea scapes , and different colors of skies with the use of pastel or colored gel ballpens for abstract. happy

I love watching lightning and storms, particularly as the storm front comes in. I remember my son being afraid of storms and hiding behind chairs. One day I took him with me to the top of a hill to watch the storm front as it approached. I pointed out the moodiness of the clouds and helped him see the beauty in it. He wasn't afraid so much after that and started taking interest in watching the future fronts roll in.
I too notice a lot that others don't notice till I point it out. I've done so at the resort with guests...pointing out waterspouts, rainbows, and other things. Most are amazed, but some look at me like I'm weird or give me the "How dare you interrupt my vacation" look.

I am familiar with foods for certain blood types, but haven't researched it a lot. I have researched what foods help the body to be more PH balanced, very interesting. At one time I used a PH strip to see where my body was and it was mostly acidic, which explained the ailments I was experiencing. I checked the blood type website you provided as well as others and what's interesting is the diet for my blood type (O positive) is the diet I discovered through trial and error of finding what works best for me and alleviate the various symptoms I was having. I've gotten away from that and all my symptoms have returned. I'm in the process now of getting back on track with that and the vitamins that I used to take. During that time when I was honoring myself with the proper diet for me I was healthy and full of energy. Kind of silly of me to have stopped. With my long work days and not wanting to cook late at night, I've resorted back to convenience of processed foods.

Castor River looks amazing. A lot of the camping I have done is at camp grounds, some larger ones, and some more rustic. There have been a couple times I slept under the stars without a tent. I discovered when camping next to a river it's best to leave the tent cover on to avoid waking up with it raining on me, even though it wasn't raining outside. Condensation had built up so much it started dripping on me. I would love to camp by waterfalls, I've hiked near them and they are beautiful. The sound of them while camping I imagine would be amazing. And I've yet to camp in a cave, although I have been in a couple caves in Tennessee. One had a hidden lake, very cool.

I agree with you about being resourceful. You can plan and stock up on what you think you might need, but there's always the unexpected and you're left to your own devices, or resourcefulness. There was one time when I was hiking, I didn't count on the swarms of mosquitoes and forgot to bring protection. I remembered learning from a couple Native American friends about the fern that grows in the woods. It's an excellent repellent for insects. I didn't have the luxury of testing it first to make sure I wasn't allergic to it, just rubbed it all over. It worked great and thankfully my skin wasn't sensitive to it. Now in Florida, I experiment with natural plants to find what works. Aloe works, but it doesn't last long and stains your clothes really badly. My point is though, that I believe Nature provides us with whatever we need, we just have to be resourceful and be open to it.

My sister had horses on their farm a few years ago. She sold her last one just two years ago. Amazing animals. I used to call them her Yahoos.

I remember when I was a young girl in the Girl Scouts going horseback riding at one of the ranches. I always ended up with the same horse, Domino, that started my love for horses. I've mostly have been on trail riding at ranches, but back in 2001, I got to experience riding off a prearranged trail. I got a chance to bond with the horse by caring for it first, giving her a bath and brushing her. It was a great experience and I think it really adds to gaining trust with the horse.

Very cool. I loved my Earth Science class in 8th grade, I found all of it fascinating. I particularly liked watching volcanoes. I've only been to a Planetarium once when I was a young girl. I don't remember where, but I remember it was amazing. I haven't had a chance to go to some of the larger well known museums. I've been to some of the smaller ones in small communities and find them interesting. I'm interested in Native cultures, so going to one that focuses on that would be great.

I write reviews, attend forums and have even sponsored neighborhood screenings outdoors. There is a list of my collection posted here.

Wow...that's a lot of movies. My collection is pretty small, but I do like watching movies more than once, sometimes over and over again.

My fishing and hunting days are over. Lost everything and just never rebought. I could, but I don't. Not sure why and I don't care enough to figure out why. I do know that if it comes to survival, I can do it.

It's been a while since I went fishing. I mostly went with others, seldom on my own. But I do enjoy it. Both shore and off shore. It's nice to just sit back and relax while fishing, and going out on the Reef is nice, I love Hog fish, which I would catch quite frequently. When I lived in Michigan, I went ice fishing, not a huge fan of that, but it was interesting.

Physically, my days of questing are over. Actually being at a place always trumps the virtual visit but that is just not possible for me anymore. But... I have been to the Moon, Mars, Venus and Pluto. I even made a few trips to the ends of the Universe.

I started to watch "Journey to the Edge of the Universe", I will finish watching it later. Very interesting, I didn't know we were only 60 miles from space.

Thanks Tom, it's been very nice sharing a little about ourselves with you.

I mentioned spirituality and energywork, not aliens and possession and conspiracies.
