In my experience with dealing with those who oppose my religious/spiritual beliefs (mainly Christians) and in my experience of being a fanatical fundamentalist Christian myself for 10 years, I've learned a few things.

When such people oppose me, they believe they are right no matter what I say or do. They believe that their religious/spiritual beliefs are the only way to God. They believe that all other religious/spiritual beliefs, no matter how benign, is of Satan and will lead a person straight to the pits of Hell. They believe it is their God given duty to proselytize those who don't believe as they do. Some even believe that they have to proselytize so that when they stand before their God in heaven one day, their God will not be able to accuse them of have the blood of another person on their hands. They plant the "seed of Faith" into the hearts of the non-believers in hopes that one day someone else will water that seed and it will grow and that non-believer will be "saved."

How can you debate (argue) or inform people like this? It's simple... you can't. They are right... you are "lost" in need of "saving" and it's their God given duty to spread "the good news." I used to be just like this. I was a sheep blindly following and doing exactly what I was told to do no questions asked. I'm so glad I've evolved spiritually.

Occassionally you will find someone who is openminded enough to understand that one doesn't have to compromise their own beliefs just by learning about other's beliefs. Occassionally you will find someone with enough intelligence to understand that proselytizing doesn't really "bring 'em in" but rather pushes them away. Occassionally you will find someone who is openminded enough to accept individuals as they are, no matter how different their beliefs are from one's own. Such openminded individuals are few and far between, though.

There is obviously a huge problem here in this Religious forum between Christians and non-Christians. We are supposed to be adults here. When are we going to start acting like it?

So, how do ya'll propose we resolve these issues we have here on this forum? How can we coexist without tearing eachother apart? Or am I just a dreamer wishing for the impossible.

Just so everyone understands, I know that I'm not an innocent angel. There are times when I get enjoyment out of taking a stick and poking the sheep every once in a while. I admit, they annoy me... mainly because they remind me of how stupid I used to be. I'm human, I admit I have flaws. But something's got to give here in these forums. This can't go on forever, can it?

At any rate, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I've very much aware of the Greek Myths... as well as the Roman, Norse, Egyptians, ect. As a Pagan I'm very much into mythology.

I saved some spaghetti and put it in my refrigerator.

But I just found it and I don't want to eat it because it has fuzzies on it.

Besides, my turkey will be yummy good!!!

It should have been eaten or given to anyone else and not gone to waste just sitting around taking up space and not being of use to anyone, except the little fuzzies!!!!

I do my best to understand others beliefs without shoving my own down their throat - but when you come on here blatantly pointing out that Christians are in the wrong, that they're doing all these awful things to people on the boards. When trying to fix this, it isn't in your best interest to call us 'Stupid'.

"Just so everyone understands, I know that I'm not an innocent angel. There are times when I get enjoyment out of taking a stick and poking the sheep every once in a while. I admit, they annoy me... mainly because they remind me of how stupid I used to be. I'm human, I admit I have flaws."

As passive as that was, it was still a blatant insult.
And I'll be as blunt as I please with you - When I hear people talking about other ways to reach heaven - it's my Duty, as someone saved by the Grace of Christ, to inform them otherwise. Jesus said himself. "I am the way, the truth, and the life, and noone goes to the Father but through me."

Christianity as a religion isn't the only way to Heaven. You're right. I won't doubt you, because I see evidence in the church of so much corruption, false teachings, and lies. Christianity though, as a deep, passionate relationship between God and man, through Jesus Christ - That is the only way to Heaven. I don't care if I get flak for this, nor do I care if people are angry with what I said. If you are? I'm sorry. You can message me and we can talk about it further, or you can simply insult me over here.

Maybe you don't like it.
Maybe you think I'm nieve.
But then again, Of course I must be when I'm in the prescence of the all-knowing Valkyre. Stop being so full of yourself, please.

"This can't go on forever, can it?"

Technically, no. Practically, yes. And it will. It has as much to do with personal egos as it does with the 'programming'.

Good thread, LadyValkyrie37. When I am dealing with Alzheimers residents I tell them who I am. It doesn't matter that whenever in five minutes later they ask me who I am again. The idea is that within the time they are aware of who I am we can have an almost normal conversation. I have become to love the redundancy and each time it can become different for me and them as well because I know ahead of time what they are going to say so I can change what I say knowing what they will say. It helps me to learn by finding out what doesn't work and what will work. It is like stepping back in time to correct errors. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

I have my own beliefs and my opinions about beliefs that aren't in line with mine, but isn't it great that we all have the right to believe as we choose and express ourselves how ever we want to.

i am a christian.. it is not my place to judge others based on their religion.. i dont care what someones religion is.. if i dont agree with what they say .. i'll comment sometimes.. i wont say they are wrong or that i am right.. i simply state my opinion just like they stated theirs.. we all have that right.. religion doesnt make the person.. its only a part of who they are in my book..

i dont care if ur christian, pagan, buddist, or whatever else.. if you have a bad personality .. we got problems.. if you have a good personality.. i dont care what ur religion is.. i'm not gonna force or try to force anyone to believe what i believe.. and i'm not gonna try and prove what i believe in exsists.. i'm not gonna tell someone they are wrong for believing in what they believe in..

its not for me to say ..

i say bless all ppl weather it be god blessin them or some other entity(sp)

You're welcome, James.flowerforyou I got the dryers changed out and my brother and me moved the bowflex, too that I didn't know we were going to transport in a little truck. By the way if you ever find yourself moving a bowflex get plenty of strap and don't be in any hurry because it is wider than most doorways.

Lady Valkrie,

With all due respect, I don't see how your first sentence qualifies you to speak authoritatively about Christian doctrine and its apparent failure to reach into your heart and fail to find an empty room that only God intends to fill with the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Ten years is a considerable amount of time to have waited without having received that which is offered, unless you allowed the gift to lay dormant in your heart and the gift reclined in slumber and can only be reawakened by your use of the gift, which may now be unlikely.

Hence, my allegory contained in my post about spaghetti.

ps...my post is in answer to a man that I respect that has privately enquired into my use of riddles, in general. In deference to his concerns, I attempt to be clearer here for your sake.

"So, how do ya'll propose we resolve these issues we have here on this forum? How can we coexist without tearing eachother apart? Or am I just a dreamer wishing for the impossible."

Yes, it will remain impossible as long as you call people who don't believe as you do, stupid. No one likes to be called stupid. Visit any elementary school classroom and see how kids react when called stupid. Trust me, it bothers adults, too.

Now as to you saying you were a Christian for ten years and now you're into paganism?? I find it very hard to believe that anyone who has really and honestly known Jesus as their Saviour could ever leave Him and turn to myths and manmade "gods." I do think, however, that if a person is into "religion" as opposed to a relationship with God, this may happen.

I was heavily into Wicca for a long time, then I turned my life over to God. The one true God who created the world and all that is within it.
