Because they tell me and put me in my place. Or they run off and use defamation of character and secret public opinion on other threads. I do not nor ever will trust those people.

I have talked with Mike about this, changes are likely, however he didn't say when. There are people abusing the system. I check the mod section often. I'm a former forum mod from another site. I don't think the majority of you need to read this but i will post it.

When you vote to delete someones thread, you have to be fair and impartial. You do not vote to delete a thread simply because you don't like the topic or the author. You vote per the forum rules.

Now...here's a few tips

wrong forum...you have to consider the new members, so they may post in the wrong category...That will not kill the site, running new members away will slow the growth of it. a polite email to the person would be nice.

pity/attention seeking...I see this several times a day in the poetry threads...It's a POEM! a form of creative expression If it's not filty leave it alone...these people have every right as a member to express their love of poetry.

spam/abuse...if it is truly spam...then yes delete it, note the word truly...

multiple posts....choose the one with the least amount of responses, multiples do knock others threads off the current page.

posting personal info....this one i do agree on, vote to delete and mail the person...there are people who do nothing but cruise these sites for addys...that rule is for protection of members.

Be fair, just because someone votes to delete a thread, doesn't mean you have to jump on the bandwagon. Weigh it out...consider the op..consider their time here, remember people, if you vote to delete something because you "think" it might become a problem, is like the cops pulling over everyone they see...

Read and understand the forum rules, but also remember these are people, the rules can bend a little don't be too harsh.
sorry so lengthy,
Mark

thanks for posting this. I never actually read it.drinker

Times and situations have arisen since then, Sportsnut. How would addressing this issue a year ago have helped if it did not yet exist???????huh

Mark....BEAUTIFULLY STATED!! Thankyou!

Bored..."Jess you make me want to crack a fat" is abuse...

and nope you dont handle your own....you and the other guy were abusive...it had nothing to do with disrespecting the US...it was discussing illegal immigration..

Just have your friends go in & post "DO NOT DELETE".
I see lots of new posts so they can't all be geting deleted.
I still think this is the best site, as a whole.

I think there have been a great deal of good commentary concerning the issue of censorship/deletion posted here. I really feel things worked well when we reported abuse to Mike and Van and they made determinations based on facts. The delete button should not be an open option for everyone who wants to exact a personal grievance, which is what I feel the case may often be. We need objective moderators with open minds and common sense. Members should be able to post freely and moderators should be in place to maintain decorum.

Lily, you took the words right out of my keyboard

LHB....it worked so much better the way it USED to be. Since this is a "privately owned forum", then the owner should be the ultimate decision maker. Or at least appoint a board of responsible moderators to oversee things. It shouldn't be left up to people who come here with issues, vendettas or various forms of psychoses.

See? You went and did it again. My keyboard is getting jealouslaugh

i agree long hair this is a privately owned site it is a privilege to belong to not a right, your so called American rights go out the window in these sites.... people want things perfect. once again this is the Internet people sheesh...

I'm sorry to disagree, hey wait! No I'm not! I don't care where you are, my American rights here in America are my rights, fought for and won by those who died and were maimed for these rights! Sure if you are in someones house and you don't like the way they are acting, you can make them leave, but that doesn't give them the right to get even with you or act like a child about it.

Our right to privacy is one thing but this may be a private site, but I have the right as a public forum to speak my mind in an un offensive way. If they don't like it the mods or owners should ask us to leave. Thats it!

Members are throwing tantrums and acting like fools just because they aren't getting thier way, and they should be asked to leave. Oppinions about what is offensive is subjective and therefore it seems logical that everyone won't like something. So they go willy nilly deleting things. I like the way it was before as well.

I,m sure sure I agree with you.
This is a free site inwhich those who come onto it have a code of conduct to adhere to.
Part of that code is to obey the rules set forth!
Some of those rules may be in conflict with your Civil Rights, at which time you may decide you don,t wish to be here.
It,s a private enterprise, you don,t have to be here.

NOw here is something I totally agree with!!!! The poems section should be off limits. Personal creativity is very objective and our freedom of expression is at stake here.

Thankyou Lily...

and Creationsfire... I feel like I have been duly smacked, chastised, and will never ever use the delete button again...

Actually, I rarely use it unless it's one of those "Suck my C*ck" kind of yukky threads..

same as report abuse, I only use it when someone is being completely derogatory to another poster...

every post anyone ever makes

is attention seeking

the only reason for being on this site

is to seek the attention of another

this should not even be a reason for deletion
