Topic: Feeling violated by censorship?...... | |

good point lilly it should not be member decided.

So what I'm understandind is this thread is a grudge against someone who has a grudge against someone who has a grudge against someone who has a grudge against someone who has a grudge against someone. Sounds repetitive to me. Like a dog chasing its tail.

well one good turn deserves another
i still think a limit is the way to go maybe 5 a week |
|
|

I dunno...I set up a thread to be deleted... I dared the deleters to delete it... challenged them.....
It was in peak deleter time too...pre daylight deleter saving time.. and they didnt delete it....weird.. |

no duffy had a thread about her dog eating catsh1t and then getting the sh1tz himself and I don't know if she was asking for advice but some one told her to give the dog an imodium tablet and the thread got deleted. so she started a new thread on censorship and then lily started this thread.

yeah, well...i love the fact that we have a moderation system. LOVE it.
i'm sure the mods do, too...cause that frees up more of their time to...oh...have a life. if something is nominated and NOT deleted, when it shouldn't have been deleted...that shows that the system works. there will always be someone that's offended by the littlest thing...by requiring a certain percentage of votes, that person is defeated. and i HATE it when people put nonsensical stuff in, or when they post in the wrong forum. |

LHB....sounds as though you may be spending a little too much time with dumb dogs......
Use the REPORT button, folks. It is a unilateral equivalent. |
|

I like the 5 a week deletes. Make it 4. That would be neat and responsible. Good idea. Lot of work to program in like our 18 photos. What do you think lily? It would keep people semi honest.

Yes censorship is happening here, because being here gives someone the right to tell you what to do.
|
|
|
|
I could settle with 3 deletes per week that would make people use them more wisely

Lily, back a year ago, when you guys were here in your quiet village....how many regular posters to the forums would you have had?
If you multiply the number of posters by the number of times the report abuse Button was necessary....the numbers would have been low, as you guys managed a lot of the idiots yourself.. Now however, there are a whole lot more regulars, a whole lot more newbies, a whole lot of blended sites, with Mingle2 being here as well...times that by the number of times the report abuse button would be used without the deleter button...and you have maybe three full time jobs.. I know that a yukky thread down in current events was reported and reported and reported over and over and it took 48 hours for anything to be done, and some of those that were abusive weren't suspended... |

Well, Jess, it was anything but a quiet village. However, there were so much fewer of us then. I think a limit on the number of deletions is an option that would be viable. I like Boreds' suggestion of three a week. The less freely people are able to abuse the delete option, the more sparingly they may use it.

I'm not the one having problems here is what I'm saying. Are you having voter deletion problems lily? You gotta grudgster out ta get you. I'm trying to be biased here and understand this issue. Trust me I KNOW who hates me and can't stand me on here. I also know who doesn't understand me or who can't relate to me on here.

I have talked with Mike about this, changes are likely, however he didn't say when. There are people abusing the system. I check the mod section often. I'm a former forum mod from another site. I don't think the majority of you need to read this but i will post it. When you vote to delete someones thread, you have to be fair and impartial. You do not vote to delete a thread simply because you don't like the topic or the author. You vote per the forum rules. Now...here's a few tips wrong forum...you have to consider the new members, so they may post in the wrong category...That will not kill the site, running new members away will slow the growth of it. a polite email to the person would be nice. pity/attention seeking...I see this several times a day in the poetry threads...It's a POEM! a form of creative expression If it's not filty leave it alone...these people have every right as a member to express their love of poetry. spam/abuse...if it is truly spam...then yes delete it, note the word truly... multiple posts....choose the one with the least amount of responses, multiples do knock others threads off the current page. posting personal info....this one i do agree on, vote to delete and mail the person...there are people who do nothing but cruise these sites for addys...that rule is for protection of members. Be fair, just because someone votes to delete a thread, doesn't mean you have to jump on the bandwagon. Weigh it out...consider the op..consider their time here, remember people, if you vote to delete something because you "think" it might become a problem, is like the cops pulling over everyone they see... Read and understand the forum rules, but also remember these are people, the rules can bend a little don't be too harsh. sorry so lengthy, Mark |

Also, Jess, my objection is not to the delete option itself, but rather the abuse of said option for alterior motivation.

Ironic....Bored was one of the ones reported, along with the whole thread.... I bet he doesn't want deleter writes..
|
|

I do understand Lily, and it does suck when it is a grudge mentality motivating the threads that are being deleted...

If you have been here longer then 6 months, or before this self
monitor system was put in place then complaints should have been made then. |
