Hey adj, your right I did not notice there were no hispanics on the list, well, if you split the whites up in half and use that statistic maybe???????? Your site, same link!!
Heading--- For Races! Statistics for non metropolitan counties!! White, Black American, Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian or Pacific Islander!! Another stat; http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/prisons.htm At year end 2005 there were 3,145 black male sentenced prison inmates per 100,000 black males in the United States, compared to 1,244 Hispanic male inmates per 100,000 Hispanic males and 471 white male inmates per 100,000 white males. Pertinent??? Having logical precise relevance to the matter at hand. See Synonyms at relevant. |

Underground Economy Growing as Illegal Immigrants Head to New States, More Jobs
By Angie Wagner, The Associated Press, December 3, 2005 Illegal immigrants are gaining a larger share of the job market and are spreading beyond traditional immigrant states like California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois and New Jersey, according to this article. More illegals are moving to states like Utah, Washington, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Georgia and the Dakotas because of the increasing number of companies eager for cheap labor. Vernon Briggs, a Cornell University labor economics professor, is quoted as saying: "The toleration of illegal immigration undermines all of our labor. It rips at the social fabric. It's a race to the bottom. The one who plays by the rules is penalized. It becomes a system that feeds on itself. It just goes on and on and on." According to the Pew Hispanic Center, a research institute, the service sector employs the most illegal immigrants with 33 percent, followed by the construction industry, production and food processing and farming. The hotel and restaurant businesses and construction are the big employers. Pew estimates that more than 1 of every 4 drywall installers and landscape workers are illegal; about 1 in 5 workers in meat and poultry packing are illegal, as are about 1 in 6 in the leisure and hospitality industry or construction. Pew estimates that the average illegal immigrant family makes $27,400 -- more than 40 percent below the legal immigrant or native family income of about $47,700. John Keeley, spokesman for the Center for Immigration Studies, is quoted as saying: "We're seeing the wage bases in these industries erode simply because there is a glut of low-skill labor flooding the low-skill market. The business community has become addicted to it. It's a way for them to keep their business costs down." More illegal workers do dangerous work and exploited, this article says. A 2004 Associated Press investigation found that Mexican workers are 80 percent more likely to die on the job than are native-born workers. http://usinfo.state.gov/eap/east_asia_pacific/chinese_human_smuggling/smuggling_in_the_press/impact_on_governments.html |

These reports you are finding are not from official INS site. The ins has released no new reports since the one done for the 9/11 attacks. I have searched. So for this false report to be INS/FBI is proven false and incorrect. I will say this again, enforce the laws that are on the books. Figure out a humane way of identifying and resolving the status of the illegals already here and move on. It is not as the racists who are perpetrating this propaganda would have one think. Racist love to take the human face off of their targets and make them less than animals so they can continue their hatemongering and fearmongering.

Forge...I still do not like the implications of "bleeding hearts" as being a negative. It is not. You make it sound ugly when it really is not. Because someone likes people and wishes for fairness in the world as it is, is not wrong.
I am a woman first off...then a mother...that makes it kinda hard to be hateful and a dehumanizer. My heart is one that loves and wishes for compassion and life for us all. The leaglity issue for me is moot as right now. I see the implications that some of you see here. I also see the human side. I am about family, and these people have families and breathe and bleed just like anyone else. I wish that this issue gets resolved and those that have been here and worked really hard and caused no trouble, find a way to be a good American. I mean given the chance to do good, prosper, and live as American as those born here. There has to be a way. I pray that God gives His insight to fix this in the best and most significant way. If you really think I spend much of my time thinking about what some say here; you would be wrong. So...that bridge won't be necessary. I may continue to think and research topics, but not the words of some that are negative in value. Kat |

Well Duh, all this argument about whether the figures are correct is moot. The percentage of the Illegal Aliens population committing crimes is in the U.S. 100% they ALL committed a crime by entering this country illegally.
Scttrbrain I didn't say "bleeding heart" was a negative, you are the one that got ticked off about the term. I made the assumption that you took it as a negative because not many people get ticked off about being called something positive. Once again you have artfully evaded the crux of the issue by falling back on "I am a woman and a mother.... " and we must show compassion etc. The issue is illegal entry to this country period. |
