I have never met anyone locally from this site. Oh wait, I take that back. I met one guy, we had a nice meal but there was no spark. Nice guy though. The problem is that most people I am willing to meet I know from the forums and they all live really far. This isn't a deal breaker but it would certainly be a challenge because I'm not in a position to move.

I have been lucky, on another site I had meet (never kiss and tell) a couple of really nice people, and been in a relationship with 2 of them (not in the same time) one for 2 years (interstate and mummy boy) and the other one for 6 years, but my best friend (male interstate) I meet on site 10 years ago now and love him to bits we are still close, I tend to get to know them pretty well before we decided to meet up

I have met a few people through dating sites and in fact married one of them the reason I moved to the US in 2002. Sadly it didn't work out but we are still good friends.
After the divorce I looked again on another site and had good relationships with three ladies (seperately!) but again things didn't go as planned. Still chat to two of the ladies and lost touch with the other.
However I do agree that you have to be careful, in my case had several really sexy ladies who were much younger (up to 30 years younger!)than me contacting me. I did acknowledge their contact with a great deal of suspicion and sure enough they were asking for money within a few days. I doubt they were even female.
So in my opinion if the guys are pushing you for a quick meeting or relationship or asking for cash I would exercise extreme caution.

Only meet when you are both ready, when you are both comfortable with each other and perhaps insist on using a Skype video call to ensure the person in the photo is actually the person you are chatting to.
There are a lot of honest men and women on this and other sites, I'm just saying to be careful of the few scammers and weirdos.
