I was married for 14 years got divorced 3 years ago now I'm ready to date again.

It has been such a long time since I have been on a date I don't think I would even know what to do or say while on a date. Hell I don't think I even really know how to approach someone to ask them out; that's why I'm on this site I guess. I recently relocated to Bismarck, North Dakota for work so I don't really know anyone here. Ran across this website and thought what the hell Ill give it a try.

Open to any suggestions.

Man, I'm having the same problem. In my case I thought its the end of the world, cos my ex took all the three kids after the divorce since 2007 and as of this year 2016, all my boys are dead, only my baby daughter is left alive.
Due to this, I just don't wanna do anything with women until now. So how am I gonna start?
What are my gonna do?

Welcome to the site and Dating Land, lol.
You'll find your own way with it all again. At first it is odd, yes.
In real life it is not that hard, unless you are shy or find it difficult to socialize.
Mostly be yourself, smile a lot. Happy, positive people are attractive, so make this a habit. Not just with pretty women, but with everyone.
If you don't know what to say, make sure you have some funny and/or interesting stories in your head, so you always have something you can talk about. And not stories that go on for an hour, just sweet and short stuff. And some subjects you like to talk about, but be sure it's not stuff that women don't give a toss about, like how to fit a car engine together.
Think of some stuff you can use as an opening line that concerns the places you frequent and could meet women.
For instance a bakery / coffee shop, you could ask a girl's advice on ... (coffee/cake/...).

Anyways, good luck

I like the honesty you put into this.
Use it :-)

Tell them your anxieties, brings out the nurturer :-)

I'm not sure what to advise. I normally just go along with my gut instinct. The rest will follow.

If only I had some suggestions, although getting yourself into the forums here might help, all the best

Very nice to read a couple of men opening up their hearts.

It's been eight and a half years with me (being alone) although for the first five of those my ex lived with me under the same roof. That's one of the loneliest feelings of all - being in a relationship, but not really.

When we physically went in opposite directions I moved into our mountains home in adjacent country Wales. A house which was our former occasional retreat.

There are no locally available women and even the best looking sheep are poor kissers as hard as they try.

Free dating sites are pretty hopeless with either women seeking much younger men (and me not fancying 90 year olds) or them being way too crazy to ever get into a regular relationship with anyone. (Older women largely seem unable to re-birth). Catch 22.

So what's the answer? I'm extremely lucky insofar as I'm strong and have more than learned to live alone. It now runs all the way through me, and I'm accepting of the fact that I may have to remain single for the duration. And I have my beautiful cat for company.

Whilst many man may perhaps regard it as a right to have a lady I more see it as a privilege. I've had a privileged life and all good things come to an end and we all need to adapt.

I'm not in prison, I'm healthy, I have a hobby, jobs, and Pusskin. I should be grateful and I am.

You came to the right place. M2 has a very active forums community.
Keep reading and posting in the forums. We are a friendly bunch and we love giving advice to those who ask nicely.

About dating, just be yourself and respect women.
When on a date, don't talk about your ex, religion or politics.
Compliment your date, but don't overdo it. Most women take time
to look her best on a date.. so, you can say "You look lovely" or
something like that. That will earn you points in the thoughtfulness
department.

First meet is a considered your first date, even if it is just for coffee.
Be the best you can be. Remember, this meet will determine if you get a
second date.

Welcome to Mingle2
and good luck in your search

So, easy. Here is the recipe.

Find some women.(not all at once)
Tell them the story you just told.
Season to taste.
Don't come across half baked.
Don't turn down any opportunity.
Be honest.
Report back.

It's great to hear how strong you're in being alone. I am learning to forget the sad experience.
