Reasonably content :) Busy with cleaning and tidying up.
Yesterday I decorated the Easter branches :) Not hazel or willow, but alder. Got them for free, I'm not going to pay for branches. And I like the energy of alder :) I think I'm going to get some cute li'l tete-Ã -tete daffodils out of my garden to stick next to it in a small vase. I so love those little daffodils! |

do people still paint eggs, or do they buy decorative ones? I guess some paint eggs, but mostly when they got kids I think. THe ones I got are plastic and paper decorative eggs. I don't do any painted eggs for Easter. I do have the smaller chocolate eggs, they're yammie! I shouldn't have bought them, they're so good, I'd love to scoff the whole lot, hahaha. |

Can someone explain why do they decorate trees with eggs at Easter? When did this started? That started centuries ago... Likely to be an old Austrian & German tradition, so I think from the Germans (ancient people I mean). The idea is that spring is about new life, things starting to grow again. If you put the branch in water, it will get leaves and roots even (if it's willow) and you can plant it outdoors. Traditionally the branch was decorated with eggs (fertility symbol) and small chicks (new life, new beginnings) All symbols of spring (new life, new beginnings etc) I can't remember if we did this when I was a kid, but I've done the branches since I was about 20. Most people do, and have done so for decades at least. Some do a thicker branch that they hang horizontally in the window with eggs on them. |

I never heard of this tradition. Interesting... OT: I feel a voracious hunger, but it'll be hours before I eat. |
