HI Ruth, I actually live in Wasilla now... I lived in Sitka for about 10 years and I loved it absolutely loved it. And would entertain the thought of going back except for Pancho...

It is extremely expensive about 43%higher than national average but rains a lot and you get used to doing stuff in the rain, but when the sun comes out it is breath taking...Hike everywhere...

I love Portage glacier have some, snowmachining out there..For Whittier was boat or plane only and have done the tunnel once...Did you get down on the Kenai at all... Hopefully at least to seward and hope you did the wildlife refuge at Girdwood...
