Topic: Your views on the Confederate flag | |
---|---|
With all the backlash and protests over the Confederate battle flag I would like to see where everybody stands. My opinion is that it's a part of our nation's history. That flag is a a symbol NOT of racism and bigotry but of people who stood up for what they believed and were willing to fight for their beliefs. Were there bigots in the South back then? You bet. But there's bigots of all shapes, sizes, and RACES in every state. I welcome honest and respectful debate on this issue. Please follow all forum rules when posting.

in my opinion, your opinion of the confederate flag, and it's place in modern context is not entirely and completely historically and factually accurate.
in my opinion you could stand a bit more studying on the subject. in my honest opinion. |

FROM THESE CONFEDERATE FLAGS >>>
To THESE UNION FLAGS >>> ************************************** I always wonder 'WHY' the Confederate Flag was 'ALLOWED' to become such a legend when it represented something that just should have been left to flutter or lay in state in all those 'Civil War Museums'! Find it rather ODD and TELLING that the North did not push and send up a hue & cry about all of their battle flags having importance above and beyond what our 'NATIONAL FLAG' is shown? IMHO |

It's a battle flag so stick it where there's a battle going on.
Let it represent your unification abroad and stop with the infighting here. Oops, Canadians aren't supposed to comment on such matters, right |

Explain 3 same as 1, but remember there doesn't need to be (impartial) martial law for there to be a (proven biased) Police State. I think, no, I know that no other flag that is not currently the flag Of any nation Besides the Nazi flag Is flown as if the ideology or political force behind that ideology was victorious. Yes, many died under that flag. Many died under that flag after 1865 too. Rest in peace to the honorable and innocent dead. |

Oops, Canadians aren't supposed to comment on such matters, right No, all intelligent comments are welcome. There's REAL southern hospitality. To bad cooter couldn't be here in person but there's no one attacking canned fruit preserves, mama's buttermilk biscuits or checkered table cloths. Nobody went to war under that flag for the right to drink iced tea. As a matter of fact United States independence was won in part by iced tea and lots of it in Boston harbor. The south fought to keep out the industry of the north in favor of the slave driven plantations. Incase you were unaware the civil war did not start over a mean game of checkers. It was over slavery and the abolitionist movement of the northern Union. If you say that flag represents courage family and good times you don't know who Robert E Lee is but you can see some of his best work in Arlington National Cemetery. |
