we do see it differently when something is MASS PRODUCED and sold for retail, its replaceable whatever it symbolizes doesn't change with what's done or not done to it and what something symbolizes for one doesn't mandate that it symbolize the same for others like i said, the pride has been taken away... really most of our USA flags are made in china lol and how many people if flying their usa flag and its starts to rain run out and get it I can say not many and if u like I can say that is very disrespectaful of our flag ... |

I understand what it means that's why I said
their are not many who run and take it down when it rains and at one time was part of my job once... so no some have no idea or care ... and I still have no problem with what this soldier did... |

does it mean something different because its wet, or not at the top of a pole?
than maybe its symbolism isn't as significant as people let on? ,,,just my opinion its a material thing,, it can symbolize many things to many people whatever concepts they associate with the material thing aren't harmed when that material thing is worn, or lost, or otherwise gone,, |

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country should leave us no more! Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! |

Btw..I think it's a great pic. pride is manufactured in several ways, that's why it's considered a sin... you manufacture something, your proud of what you did, or the money you made off of it, or that you thought of the idea... being proud of your nation and flag is not a bad thing, regardless that it's just a piece of cloth, it's more of a remembrance of the rich history of this or any nation that the flags symbolize and represent... |

I believe some has lost that battle of our history with the flag except for those who understand and don't abuse it ...but then goes to say every one has a right to feel the differnaces ... |

the irony or whatever one would call it is that the soldier in this picture risks everything for God and country, for the rights and freedom of others, including the right to free speech evidenced in the condemnation of this pic.
those who criticize don't seem to recognize that |
