Hiya {{{{{{Zee}}}}}} flowerforyou

You guys are posting some beauties, yourselves....

Wish I had a horse, my sister owned three.... then exchanged them for kids... laugh

Hello BrandNewJourney.... waving

thanks.. I don't have any pics of mine (lost them in the ice storm back in '97ish) but I DID find their twins online biggrin

life isn't LIFE until you've experience a horse / human relationship smitten

I helped her with hers, but she is my older sister so no matter how old I was..... I was still going to do something wrong and "break" her toys.... laugh

But I loved going and helping her out and hanging around the stables

Hello (((Franky))) flowerforyou Of course Donkeys need love too

Hello eileen flowerforyou Palominos are definitely beautiful.

@Zee...I believe they were in fact meant to be part of my journey.
I would not trade one moment of them in my life for anything.
I had them in my life for over 20 years and have been wanting a horse back in my life to make me feel complete again.
4 years without them feels like eternity to me.

Gigi on the other hand was 17 & 1/2 hands.. graceful.. and a wee bit vain laugh

I had to run into the house for something and left the front door open briefly.. she came waltzing in like she OWNED the place laugh imagine my surprise when I came into the living room to see her standing there munching on the ferns laugh she stopped long enough to give me a wink 'n a smile laugh

OOPS.. forgot ta add.. OBViously.. whoa she was a Black Arabian and fully papered  and like I said before.. she was a SHOW girl.. we did a few circuits with her.. won a few ribbons.. but her GRANDEST moment.. was when a friend said HE could ride her better.. but when they got to the first jump? only HE made it.. cuz she decided to NOT to rofl

LMAO Man oh man, you have to love them and their personalities.
I would have loved to have seen that.
She knew he thought he was all that

My first horse was a Quarter horse gelding named Tarzan.
He was a bronzish brown with black mane and tail.
A friend dared me to ride him into the house...
Stupid stupid dare on his part...
He had no problem waltzing right through the door as I asked him too.

Darn it now I am really missing them tears

yup.. such GREAT personalities too.. often SOOO misunderstood.. *sigh*

when he FIRST got on her.. she gave me a look sayin "oh yeah? watch THIS pitchfork" laugh she was my last.. but my BESTEST of friend..

once I asked her to give a gf a quick ride (the gf had NEVER been on a horse before) anywho, Gigi took one look at her (she was 5' tall period) and sidled over to the deck so she could get on.. I hugged her madly afterwards.. she just winked'n smiled.. she knew I'd do just about ANYthing for her.. so in turn.. she loved doing wonderful things for me too.. okay.. now I'm really starting to  up..

Jet...He too was a rescue horse.
He had gone the entire winter before I bought him without being fed.
He scavenged whatever he could find to survive.
It took 9 months to get him looking like he does in this photo.

it's amazing how some people treat the animals they CHOOSE to have in their lives huh grumble gives you a good idea how they treat PEOPLE too whoa

they were meant to be part of YOUR journey bnj.. flowers

You know I just don't understand that part of it either.
They chose them, the horse did not choose them as they had no choice.
This big boy had the biggest heart. He stood 16.3 and his heart matched his height.
Would almost tip toe when a small child was being held on his back.
Walking like he would break them.
He did not like men however, and I didn't much blame him.
After all, it was a man that abused and neglected him.

Oh Zee, your story reminds me of a time my youngest daughter wanted to work with Jet.
I had just started training him and he wasn't actually ready for an inexperienced handler to try their hand.
I told her, if you can work Apache' on the longe line and have him do everything you ask, you can work Jet.
She tried and tried and Apache' just stood there looking at her.
She got frustrated and said this horse is stupid and knows nothing.
I laughed and said, nope he is the smartest horse you will ever find.
She said, he is not, he won't even move.
I said that is because you aren't asking him correctly. You are trying to tell him.
So of course, I had to prove my point at which time she stormed out of the pasture.

my older sister wouldn't let me play with any of HER toys either laugh thankfully though.. we didn't have the same tastes.. I took her riding with me ONCE.. she's a much heavier girl than I.. so I brought out a friends roan.. HER name was NANCY.. and she REALLY didn't like strangers.. anywho.. out comes Nancy.. over comes my sister.. I try to boost her up into the saddle(she was western and I thought it'd be easier for her first ride) WELLLLLLLLLLLLL.. Nancy didn't want ANYthing to do with my sister and kept turning her butt one step away from us every time my sister went to push off the ground.. finally I offered her Jezebel (smaller horse than Nancy but strong and very calm ]and didn't mind having a western saddle on) and I got on Nancy myself.. no sooner am I seated when she rears up, trying to knock me off.. as soon as her front hoofs hit the ground.. I jumped off, faced her, and punched her nose (not very hard) and pointed my finger at her (never said a WORD) then hopped back atop her and proceeded to have quite an enjoyable ride...

back at the stables after the ride.. I was busy with Jez when I heard a squeal.. turning I saw Nancy chasing my sister outta the barn and UP the nearest tree.. laugh I never thought my sister could run THAT fast.. let alone.. climb a tree laugh

laugh laugh

We went for a sunset ride on the beach at a ranch here, back when I was a teenager, and with my being a little heavier than everyone else they put me on a bigger horse... As soon as this horse hit the sand, he took off like a bat out of hell!! The guide had to chase me down and stop him because nothing I was doing was working... We waited for the group to catch up and he started yelling at the other guides as to WHY did they put me on this horse?!?

Winds up, he was only two weeks off the race track and the sand reminded him what he was supposed to do.. NOBODY was supposed to be on that horse for the beach ride....

laughlaugh too funny.. bet you had the bejesus scared outta you huh laughlaugh

one last horse story then I gotta head..

I took my kids to a farm one summer, where you could rent horses.. not my iDEAL situation (as you don't really know any horse in 5 mins) but.. all I could come up with to give them the experience..

anywho.. seeing the way I was with the horses, the guide decided to give me one with a lil attitude.. 1/2 way down the trail MINE decided he didn't wanna get his FEET wet.. so instead of meandering thru a small stretch of steam.. HE decided to take the shoreline.. which was basically just a lotta lil trees.. anywho.. at ONE point.. HE decides NOT to step over a fallen trunk but to go aROUND it.. which put MY leg smooshed up against EVERY BIGGER tree trunk he could FIND.. all the while the guide was looking back at me with a smile on his face..

luckily.. as I slid down the horse to disembark and limped heavily into the stables.. the guide came over to me and quietly said.. sorry about that... patted me on the back, 1/2 smiled at my pain and surprised by the rough shape of my knee and its ugly colors.. quietly told me I didn't owe him a dime for the ride..

I couldn't walk for 3 days after.. laugh but my KIDS had a ball and felt bad enough for me to wait on me hand'n foot the 3 days I was couch bound

Nope don't mind at all (((Kat))) flowerforyou

There are many stories we all have I am sure of it.

I can remember breaking a helmet once as I landed on my head after my Arabian did one of his usual OMG A BIRD!! The run out from under me in a flash...lol He had many of those moments unfortunately. I don't even remember the number of times he would fly out from under me. I really didn't care how many times he would do it nor how many times I would eat the dirt because I loved riding that horse. flowerforyou

Oh that person had no business working at a riding stable.
You are supposed to know the horses and match them with the rider.
Good thing you survived flowerforyou

 Happiness IS:

The soft munching sounds in the barn as my boys would eat
The soft nickers that greeted me when they saw me
The security my boys would give me in my times of need
Hugs from Apache' as I wrapped my arms around his neck
The smell of leather and fly spray
Mucking stalls and filling water buckets
Sitting on a hay bale in the barn just because it's there

I never used to wear one either.
The barn I had Apache' at for a while had a helmet rule in place.
That is where mine was broken. The company replaced it for free.
All I had to do was return it with a description as to how it broke.
It was their way of making a better product.
Won't ride without one now.
