As a single mature male , and a newbie, am I right in thinking I'm not in the most popular age group? Would I have been better declaring my newbie status later?

There are all sizes, shapes, colors, ages here and yours I think could be in the majority. Not sure what newbiehood has to do with it. Welcome :-)
