50 years ago, there was volunteer help for the poor, homeless and vets.

It was given freely.

The gubamint stepped in and took out the good will and created generations of welfare slaves.

When someone came to the house and asked for work, they didn't really mean they just wanted free money.

Poor people who work to help themselves are heroes to mankind and teach thier kids great values.

Ghetto hos pump out worthless ghetto rats

50 years ago, there were already social services in addition to volunteer help

the poverty rate was at 19 percent 50 years ago (1964) and is at 15 percent now

there were almost 192 million people in the US in 1964 and now there are 317 million

outsourcing and automation that replaces humans are much more common

people now are likely to get shot just 'coming to a house' to ask for work and people are less likely to trust some stranger around their home

working to help oneself is not heroic, it is a necessity

laziness is an epidemic amongst rich and poor alike

More wine drinkers than beer drinkers these days, most pubs are now wine bars.Smoking is now more anti-social than social and you cannot smoke in public places. On the bright side the Rolling Stones are still rocking.

If someone came back from 50 years ago, what would you tell them is different?

I'd say it's a lot more fast paced than back then, better roads, schools, and hospitals. What about you?
I,m not so sure about the schools.
