Topic: Why can't women preach? | |

Ooops. " I know how you feel and believe". Not as I do.

These are the primary texts used to support a woman's right to preach based on the original topic at hand.
Joel 2:28-29 - "It will come about after this that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; and your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. And even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days." Acts 2:17-18 - "'And it shall be in the last days,' God says, 'That I will pour forth of My Spirit upon all mankind; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even upon My bondslaves, both man and women, I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit and they shall prophesy.'" Galatians 328 - "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." 1 Corinthians 11:4-5 - "Every man who has something on his head while praying or prophesying, disgraces his head. But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying, disgraces her head; for she is one and the same with her whose head is shaved." 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 - "Let the women keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but let them subject themselves, just as the Law also says. And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church." Intellectual and moral pursuits are as appropriate for women as for men. Whether a woman works inside or outside the home, God expects her to develop their natural capabilities fully. Why would God give women the intelligence and ability to preach if He never intended her to do so? Now...on Mary M... When Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene He gave her certain, specific instructions. Matthew 28:10 records His words to Mary: "Go and tell my brethren...." In other words He sent her on a specific mission defined by the words, "Go and tell." Interestingly the NTestament word apostle literally means "one who is sent" or "a sent one." Mary, therefore, was a "sent one" and as such received the first apostolic commission from the Risen Lord...thus making her an apostle to the apostles... I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because I see everything by it. -- C.S. Lewis |

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 - "Let the women keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but let them subject themselves, just as the Law also says. And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church."
Remember Paul speaks of the law. Yes you can make the word say anything you want if you do away with the law. But if you are a believer do you believe that all things must be restored and then Yahshua will come? This is the Evangel he spoke of that would go out to all the world and the world will hate it. Isa 55:7-8 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our Elohim, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways , saith the Lord. KJV Prov 16:25 25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. KJV Do what Yahweh says. What you have said laughing is exactly what these last 2 verses posted warns about...Women are to be cherished and i know that what i have said and quoted is (warred) against. We all are to be submissive. But we can not make up what the scriptires say. Paul kept the law as in acts 21. I am not suprised that this subject is not popular. But that has been the case throughout history..... Blessings of Shalom to Your Houses.... Miles |

People often say that Bible was supposed to have been inspired by god, yet it contains such conflicting views on the same issues. How can that be if it was truly inspired by a single deity?
Moreover, the god of the New Testament seems to have views and behaviors that are significantly different from the of the god of the Old Testament. Did god change? These kinds of blatant inconsistencies have certainly contributed to my conclusion that these collections of writings could have only been authored by opinionated men who claim to have had divine inspiration to support their opinions. The fact that men do this is no surprise as many of them continue to do this to this very day, the only difference being that men of today are generally seen as crackpots or over-inflated egotists rather than being seen as having divine inspiration. It’s obvious that the “teachings of the Bible” cannot possibly be used as a guideline for living life, because there are too many conflicting teachings. Which ones would you choose to go by? The new or the old? And why did god change all of a sudden? The old and the new testaments are more like two completely different religions, yet the new relies on the old as it is supposed to be about the incarnation of the old god. The books are inseparably linked, yet they are completely incompatible. This is just one of many reasons why I have long since tossed the book aside as being just another book written by men, full of nothing more than exaggerations, mythology, martyrdom, and conflicting opinions of men. Disclaimer: Not intended as a debate. I’m perfectly happy with the conclusions I’ve arrived at. I see all humans as being equals and deserving equal respect, I don't need a book to tell me how to judge my fellow man (or woman). I think I can handle that decision on my own. Just sharing personal views for whatever they’re worth. |

Abra
I can see where you see the bible as having contridicting issues. That is because when Yahshua came that after about 325 years a man name constinople decide that his pagan worshippers and the Yahwists people were at conflict with each other. As many pagans were going over to this religion as the doors for them had opened to come in. Yet this had always been. Thier are no contradictions in the Holy Scriptures and if you can find one i will do my best to show you that what ever you bring up has always been. Confusion is what has happened and this is from satan/helel leading people astray. So fire away. Shalom Abra..... Miles |

“So fire away.” I’m not the slightest bit interesting in “firing away” miles. I’m just sharing my views. If you are happy with yours so be it. More power to you. I think this is what upsets Miguel. A person states their views and someone else immediately wants to turn it into a “debate”. There’s nothing to debate Miles. I stated my view and even added a disclaimer in my post that this is precisely what it is. I have no desire to convince you of anything. Believe what you wish. I seriously don’ t care what you believe, although if you run for public office I may not vote for you. |

I do not think you have to worry about me running for any office..haha..But you put down the scriptures as a made up thing and sorry i am going to respond to that. If i do not then what you say maybe taken by someone else as a truth. No hard feelings. Blessings.... Miles |

No hard feelings taken Miles.
However, this interaction between you and me right now I think it s a large part of what causes so many problems on religious discussions boards. You say that I ‘put down’ the scriptures because you see my views as an ‘attack’ against something you believe in. But it’s not indented as an ‘attack’. It’s simply intended as an expression of why I don’t believe in certain things. I have a pantheist view of life. Many people tell me why they don’t care to believe in Pantheism. I don’t take their views as a personal attack against what I believe, I simply see their views as their explanation of why they don’t care to believe the way I do. Why should you be any differnet Miles? If someone tells you why they don’t believe in the world picture that you’ve accepted, why should you take that as an attack or ‘put down’ of your beliefs? Why not just accept that it’s nothing more than their rationale of why they have chosen not to believe the way you do? Becoming defensive over our beliefs can only show one of two things. Either we aren’t fully confident in them ourselves and thus we are still trying to convince ourselves of their truth, or we are obsessed with insisting that everyone else should believe as we do. Neither of these traits would be considered to be desirable virtues by most people. I’m completely happy and content with my pantheist view of life. It matters not to me what other people believe or don’t believe. Except, of course, when they try to shove their views onto me via legislation or other activities that affect me directly. This is one reason why I would like to see everyone view the world in a similar way that I do, and so for this reason I would like to help people at least become aware of the view. Your suggestion that your religion may have male chauvinistic overtones does not appeal to me in the least. That attribute of it is certainly not going to attract me to it. Moreover, as I watch other people who claim to be affiliated with the same faith as you arguing against your view then it ‘appears’ to me that the religion as a whole is confused and has no firm ground to stand on. Again, this is just my observations offered to explain why I feel the way I do. It’s not intended as a ‘put down’. If what I observe in a particular religion is considered to be a ‘put down’ then shouldn’t people be asking why it is that the religion as a whole is displaying this behavior in the first place? With over 2,500 officially recognized distinctly different sects of a single religion it appears to me that I’m not the only one who sees the religion as being unclear at best or severely inconsistent at worse. Aren’t those 2,500 disagreeing sects ultimately putting each other down by blatantly rejecting or questioning each others beliefs? |

Here are some more personal views offered just as food for thought for whatever they’re worth.
The religion that is based on the God of Abraham appears to be to be an entirely male-centric or chauvinistic religion for the following reasons: The God is always referred to as a male. God is the Father, not the Mother of creation. God created man in HIS image. God took a rib from Adam to create for him a female helpmate The female led Adam into sin. Shame on her! Later God sent his only begotten SON to die for man’s sins. Why didn’t he send an only begotten daughter? The focus on the importance of masculinity is overwhelming thus leading me to believe that these stories were made up by male chauvinist men who were clearly attempting to keep women under their thumb. Moreover, how does any of this make any sense? What did Adam need a helpmate for? He couldn’t even give birth to new life. Of what use was he? What did he need help with? He was obviously a bum who couldn’t do anything profoundly useful. On the other hand. Eve could produce children. Things would make much more sense to me if God was the Mother of creation and had created Women in HER own image. Then it would make sense that she would have felt a need to give Eve a helpmate. After all, Eve was given the task of creating all the rest of humanity, she actually had a REASON to need HELP! Moreover, Adam would have most likely cheated on her independently before leading her into sin. This would have placed all sin squarely on the shoulders of the useless dude. God could have just castrated him as punishment and given Eve a cryogenic sperm bank and that would have been the end of sin. Then God wouldn’t have had any need to send her only begotten daughter to straighten out the whole mess later on. Too bad Mrs. God wasn’t there in the beginning to help Mr. God create a decent world. We all would have been saved from a lot of unnecessary grief. If the world is screwed up maybe it’s because God really is a guy and he put creation together backwards because he refused to read the instruction manual or ask for directions. |

Emotions rise easily because these discussions are about the very things we base our lives on, right and wrong. Intelligence is often called into question when logic fails and when all the pinching and eye poking is over, no one really listened.
Abra, Miles, you guys just made my day. |

yes Abra it is a pity thier are so many sects. To say that my view of the scriptures is chuvonistic is not what i believe at all. All I do is present facts as the scriptures say they are in the Holy Scriptures. I have said repeatedly that women are to be valued to the utmost. What the Scriptures say is not popular. Yahshua was killed for saying the truth. He also said because they have hated me they will hate you. Why? Because we will be saying the same thing.what you believe is fine. It is not my job to convert anyone to what i believe. It is my job though to speak the truth no matter what. You can either take hold of it or throw it away. It's your choice, free will. You say you are trying to show a different view point for people to consider. My views of the scriptures that most people on here have on thier coffee tables is comepletly foriegn to most. So i also am trying to present what the scriptures say. Thier is going to be disagreement and possible debate. But what is wrong with that? Does not testing what we believe make us stronger. Whether we study and affirm that what we believe is true,or we see a different point that makes us think alittle. Now i do not agree with patheism (sp?). But speaking with you makes me think. Too many people are stagnant on what they believe because they have allways just been told this is the way it is. Fire and brimstone. Your 2 view points of why a person feels attacked. I do not feel attacked what i feel is i must respond. If you want to put me in the obessing category fine. It is my life. I will just leave it at that. May Yahweh of Hosts Bless Your House.... Miles

I'm more than happy to read your views Miles. And possibly even respond to your thoughts with my own. I just don't wish to argue them as a debate. It's just not necessary to come to a consensus. It's all just food for thought. |

The reason I said fire away if you took all of our post to each other is your saying that the faith is a fairy tale. With what i know of you, like speaking we evolved from apes. You never answered me on the mathmatical probability which ( correct me if i am wrong)is Darwinism.I forgot the guys name from germany that eventuelly was looked on as more correct with his logic of random selectivity (not for sure on that, it was random something. that was adopted over Einstiens therory). That evolution uses probability equations even carbon dating would use this. If so since Jerusalem is a major theme in the scriptures I thought maybe you could tell me what that mathmatical quotient would be? Being it has been fought over for about as long as we know.So see you talk of an Elohim that is chuvonistic so my fire away comment to your claim of contradictions was to show i was willing to defend what i believe. But you apparently did not want to tackle the probability question you base your evolution therory on. Because jerusalem chances of being a holy site to so many religions would mean it evolved from a higher power using your own belief system. Our stomachs are almost identical to a pigs and they use pigs stomachs for some surgeries makes us evolve from a pig and an ape. Well that we here on Jay Leno nightly. But evolving from an ape is Hogwash.. Shalom... Miles
