Where do you think we spend more time...
by sitting in front of our computers and searching on the Internet or in our bed in a deep sleep. New research suggests that one in four people spend more time online than in bed. Sky Broadband company that conducted the study reported that because more people are sick of the so-called e-anxiety syndrome. Those people panic, or even fall into depression when they are not able to check their email or Facebook account. It has been proven that men spend more time online than women. In particular, one of the four men a day spends six or more hours at the computer, while one in five women spends as much time on the Internet. One of three people a day is checking email more than 6 times. It is particularly bad that people spend more time at the computer and less time to walking, socializing with friends and family, but also for a quality sleep. What do you guys think about this? |

In other words, Internet addicts need to get a life. |

it depends upon how your real life is going , for me , virtual life was an essential part of my daily life since long ago , but never had this part of my daily routine as it is doing now , that's because i have no active social live in the country i moved recently to , that might change a bit when my circle of friends expands , but even though , i couldn't be able to quit checking my virtual life every now and then .
so for the time being , it's internet . |

I don't know about others but I get my sleep but spend probably more time on line than I should because ;
Socializing on line is just easier because even if they move around you can maintain friendships without driving for miles and miles. Online friends don't usually come with annoying pets, obnoxious children, or spouses that have to act like a fool just because they perceive themselves to be superior because they are a "keeper" and you must be a "needy" single.. Online allows you to do other things while you socialize. Caregiving, housekeeping, crafts, and sometimes work when you have to wait on coworkers to do their job so you can yours. also commuting. I do not have to deal with crime and being panhandled in the streets. Granted there are popups but they are easy enough to ignore. Mass transportation is a joke. If you want to visit family or the old neighborhood you better have deep pockets. . The social options (theaters, bowling, golf, dining out) are growing less and less available, not affordable, and often put you in contact with people you just don't want to have to tolerate. TV, especially cable TV has become so commercial, vulgar, and dumbed down at least on line you can find some intelligent life if you look for it. Health concerns do come into play. It is easier to wind down and rest when you are being entertained on line. Dating, more often than not, feels more like being put through a gauntlet. Getting where having people in to entertain in your home is harder as I downsize to retirement quarters and have many things "stored" besides the whole parking issue. And special diets or access for some of my older friends gets to be more of a hassle. And you have to deal with nosey neighbors and people that can't be trusted not to rip off your preparations if you try to set them up the day before. On line I can just invite everyone in a chat-room or Skype and enjoy the company. Can almost always enjoy a good game on line. |

Where do you think we spend more time... by sitting in front of our computers and searching on the Internet or in our bed in a deep sleep. Neither. We are all on our phones now... get with the times! Who needs sleep when there is Candy Crush and its assorted brethren? |

when Im working at jobs that require 'flexible schedule' my sleep pattern is totally disturbed, making it hard to sleep for any regular amount of hours
as a result, I often experience sleeplessness and end up on the internet instead |

I would always prefer sleep....but most of the time i spend on the internet though....

As an insomniac, I don't think I count, but I would guess sleeping for the average user.

Perhaps the reason why 'men' spend more time behind the computer is because they have a better understanding of the way it works :p (jk)
But seriously time surfing is not only spent behind the computer. Did the survey also take in account: tablets and mobile phones? My guess is singles spend more time behind the computer than couples (off work). In my reasoning computers include also game consoles and people (probably mostly men) playing multiplayer games. |
