When you're wrong, can/do you admit it? Or, are you one of those people who will deny being wrong, even if you know you're wrong?

When you're wrong, can/do you admit it? Or, are you one of those people who will deny being wrong, even if you know you're wrong? I think it's important to be able to own up to mistakes. It's the best way to learn from them, as well as showing respect to the person you wronged. I don't like being wrong (who does?) but in most cases I find it quite easy to admit I am and to apologise for it. |

If I know I am wrong ABSOLUTELY I am going to admit it and do my best to apologize; make amends. Actually when I screw up I think I am harder on myself than others.
If it is just someone else telling me I am wrong then it will take some convincing to get me to apologize. If it was an honest mistake I may qualify my admission and apology because I don't want thrown under the bus for doing what I thought at the time was what should be done. I do try to own the result even if the intent wasn't there. The result after all is what others have to live with. I have done it, said sorry, when I thought the peace or dignity that it gave the person to be "right" was more valuable than my loss to be wrong. This is more often with someone who is considerably older. Or maybe someone younger who just isn't going to get why they are wrong and don't know it from lack of experience. However I don't like "taking the fall" and do it rarely. |

Only strong/matured person admits his own fault.
Unfortunately most of us do not admit our own fault. Our ego stops us from admitting our own fault. |

Boyfriend HELL NO Friends... possibly Guess this would work if you have a really big close family but might not be so good for potential relationships. As you get older you find that long term friends are often more important than when you were younger. |

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken
Now Billy on the other hand is often wrong but he just says go F* yourself Do I admit? Not even to my lawyer, just in case he gets a moral sense, It could happen couldn't it? I Lawyer could get a conscience. I you were fighting for freedom for the rest of your life, would you admit it? and you didn't hurt people or innocent people |

Well, I try not to be dogmatic and a lot of the time it will boil down to a matter of opinion anyway.
If I'm in a bad mood and get grumpy or angry with somebody I'll usually apologise for that. Someone quite close to me never admits that he's wrong and has temper tantrums and can't really take criticism and I don't really like having to tread on eggshells or being bullied, so I find people like that difficult to get on with. I'm not a big fan of "agreeing to disagree". That seems like just another way of saying that you won't admit that you're wrong, or might be wrong, to me. Also, it seems like people that do that can be rather smug and lack the courage of their convictions, so to speak. Better to really believe in something, even if it's total rubbish I say and being prepared to defend your opinion than being some wishy washy liberal, or nihilist, that doesn't have enough integrity to defend a cause, no matter how stupid it is. |

Boyfriend HELL NO Friends... possibly Why is it different for different people? Different rules for different people because some ( family/ friends) will understand that you were wrong, and accept your apology. While others... will hold onto the fact that you were wrong like a dog with a bone and will bring it up at every turn! These are the people I will not admit it to... BOYFRIENDS and some friends ( frienemies) |
