This is why I hangout in the forums.

The forums are for people who have nothing better to do on a Monday night, because they're waiting until after midnight to email their paper to their adviser, so they hang out on here waiting for stupid/amusing posts to reply to.

Or at least that's my reason....

The forums for me are to check in with friends, and to have fun!

Not really, I'd hang out on mingle even if I did have a date, you can't even pay to see some of the crazy **** I see on here sometimes....

Maybe my 'problem' is that I don't get bored easily at home. Oftentimes I rather stay home and do something I like than go out on a date with a bloke I don't know and usually isn't much fun. Some were nice and conversational in mails, but simply had nothing much to say in real life, so within 5 minutes there's an awkward silence and I have to keep the conversation going. I can enjoy entertaining, but not when I'm out on a date.
I'm not the kind of person that goes clubbing a lot and when I do go out, I'd like it to be good. Otherwise I rather stay home with my Van Dyke Brown and a canvas or hang out with my friends, or Mingle.

Yep. And sometimes it is the safest place to be. Hones up the Social Graces if you have them.

Well, I still go on the forums when I'm getting dates but can't speak for everyone else.

Take last christmas for example. I was dating someone from this site and seeing her at weekends. During the week we would email on here and I went on the forums while I was waiting for replies from her.

But in the main, I think that it is the case that most people on the forums aren't dating and the same goes for most of the people on this site for that matter.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; the people on the forums live too far away for dating and although certain people like to perpetuate the myth that the forums are the way to go if you do want to meet somebody that's BS really and it hardly ever happens.

This is little more than social networking but ocasionally someone starts an interesting discussion and I've found that talking with this bunch of strangers that I'm never going to meet about dating and relationships to be helpful sometimes.

Ok, that's "one" reason ...Something about this reminds me of first grade....

Yeah I don't have a problem getting dates if I wanted them. Getting a date isn't very hard. Finding a place with like minded individuals thats a bit tougher. Thats what mingle is for me. Its a place were like minded people gather to discuss life the universe and everything and I don't just mean the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy although I have talked about that series with some of the people here.

There's only so much yes no maybe that I can handle in a night

Not necessarily. I myself would pop up once in a while especially after one of those long tiring season for my line of work. The forums is a kind of my in between boring and tiring moments, it kinda help me divert my attention from the things I want to forget at the moment. I get to say hi to some online friends too.

Dating or not, I always find myself getting back in here.
