For the religious, the term "God" is a deity or supreme being who created the world and all of humankind. Also the "heavens and the earth" what ever that involves. (I am not sure how they imagine the entire universe of stars and planets and galaxies came into being or if the Bible mentions those.) For Athiests, (or "brights" as some call themselves) most conclude that "God" does not exist and any idea of spirit, soul, supernatural phenomena, does not warrant any consideration. If there is no evidence, it is not to be considered true. But what about the spiritual idea that we are all part of that intelligence? What about people who declare, as Jesus did, that "I and the father are one?" What about the I AM? The realization that: "I am God" **~Nisargadatta Maharaj says: One has to understand that the search for reality, or God, or Guru and the search for the self are the same; when one is found, all are found. When 'I am' and 'God is' become in your mind indistinguishable, then something will happen and you will know without a trace of doubt that God is because you are, you are because God is. The two are one. ~Nisargadatta Maharaj ************************ Therefore: To deny "God is" would be to deny "I am." Thoughts? |

It is so easy to see God, look up to the sky, those star and moon and sun would not just be appear without a "creator" , if you can't see God work in the sky and around your life , the bible consider you blind. The term you here is for people which bible say is blind.

I think when someone asks me if I believe in God I hesitate because I don't really know for sure what they mean by God. One answer is, "Of course! Here I am!!" The other is, "Probably not your alien God." or I ask.... Who or What is God to you? I believe in myself. I am. So yes. |

If you don't believe what the Bible says, how can you believe there's God?
You think Bible is a hoax? No, it isnt. |

If you don't believe what the Bible says, how can you believe there's God? You think Bible is a hoax? No, it isnt. Reasoning from the premise of one's own existence is called "anthropic" reasoning. My journey has been in an inward direction and although not completely scientific, it involves my own personal logic. I found that any search for "God" or the prime cause of our own existence is actually a search for the answer to the questions: "Who am I? or "What am I." Most people are too distracted by the appearance of reality around them and are two busy going over other people's ideas and perceptions. The Bible is many books put together as one so I can't comment on which ones might be a hoax. They are mostly stories told by people. The truth of existence can never be found in a book. There are many interesting books and theories though. Religion is a result of humans who have asked the question "Who am I and how did I get here?" For some, they are happy with the Bible. For others, not so much. |

Toks88,
To answer your question, even if there was never a Bible written, people would still ask the question "Who am I?" and they would imagine a God must have had a hand in it because life, consciousness and perception of the world is still an amazing and magical thing. Scientists still admit they don't know what consciousness is or how it is that we are conscious and aware. They still don't really know what thought is. They have many complicated explanations for how it all works and they are close to figuring out how to create life and virtual realities in computers, but they still don't know how to create consciousness or awareness. Consciousness is a personal thing. God is a personal thing. You might be able to create a computer that appears intelligent and even appears conscious. You might be able to program that computer to appear to have feelings or free will. But you can never know for sure because consciousness and feeling are PERSONAL. |

If you don't believe what the Bible says, how can you believe there's God? You think Bible is a hoax? No, it isnt. It's pretty easy actually. People were believing long before the books that make up the bible were compiled or even written. |

You can ask Jeanniebean if anyone ever said the Bible is/was a hoax. Yes indeed, it has been said. In fact there have been books written about the hoax of the Bible. But in this thread no one has said it. Was it a hoax. Maybe. It does not matter to me. |
