Who believes in Karma? If you did something terrible would it come back at you when life seems to be going swimmingly and kick you in the arse? Are good deeds always rewarded?

I don't believe in Karma in a strict sense

I know people constantly 'get away' with terrible things with little to no consequence

while others see to have terrible suffering with little to no apparent justification

I do believe in a God who watches though and I do believe in consequences, however slight or unnoticeable,,,,

but it rains on the good and bad alike, so to speak
so there are often times when a terrible thing can happen in ones life that has nothing to do with their 'karma'

Not really since it is not always a sure thing. But I do find it interesting how things sometimes seem to play out.

I absolutely agree... I accidentally trod on a slug this morning and then on my way home a giant stood on me

Some people call it Karma. Other people say, "What goes around, comes around." I absolutely believe in it, have seen it happen to many times to bad people.

can't believe in it, i can't see a "force" in the universe that rewards or punishes us for what we do know..

but i do like the the Buddhists belief that the better we are in this world, that we can move to the next, or if we don't learn what we are supposed to learn, we come back as a lessor life form... this notion intrigues me...

I watched Twilight. Then I was sick for 2 days afterwards.

If that wasn't karma, I don't know what is.

I believe in Karma.

I know of a guy that blamed his bad welding work off on me and others. Eventually we were laid off for awhile and he took a job working on a oil drilling derrick. One day while he was working there he ignored the job supervisor on not welding a part until everything was checked and cleared. He struck an arc and blew up himself and the others around him. He killed 3 guys that day and received 3rd degree burns to all of his head, arms and lower legs.

I didn't recognize him when I bumped into him at a store. He told me he was sorry for all he had done to me and the others. I told him he was a little too late for apologies.

I caught him lying on me and the others there where we worked together way before his accident and I told him "What Goes Around, Comes Around"!

Believe it, or not but it is a true story and there is such a thing as Karma.

so... so why does bad things happen to good people? if they don't do bad things, by that logic, nothing bad should ever happen to them?

and, by the same standards, nothing good should ever happen to bad people?

what if the people are both bad and good? or, a good person does both a bad and good thing at the same time- example: a good person accidentally shoots another person and kills them... but, if the person shot had lived, would have planted a bomb in a factory, killing 14 others... murder is not a good thing, but they unknowingly saved 14 others from an explosive death...

seems like there's a lot of logic to think about before anyone can say Karma is valid...

Sometimes bad things happen to good people, but I think it's worse if you're not a good person. Like it might not be as bad, because you were good.

I live with a karma like morality (my own creation). I don't do to others that which I would not like done to myself in their shoes. Do I believe it is an actual entity, no. Do I believe that if I treat people like shyte I am more likely to get treated like shyte back, yea. Do I believe that my smile and respect given to others will ripple outward from me to others, yea. I do believe my individual projections effect everyone around me so I am a force so to speak in deciding if negativity will be spread or positivity.

Karma is a way of not personally judging others deserving of something either good or bad. It is saying the universe will answer their actions, good or bad. Kind of like all energy expelled will have an answering energy return. Like an echo, maybe.

being a hindu i have got lessons about karma since childhood.. bt as far as i know karma was introduced in indian culture a long time ago to keep the system running.. by fear of bad karma people ceased to do bad stuffs. it was a means to control the people by fear nt by power. like in 6th or 7th century rome ruled just by faith. many countries army was available to rome as it controled the people by beliefs..

but i do beilive in doing good. nt because i am afraid god is watching me bt because it satisfies me. one cant live with burden of hurting others. so my suggestn is beilive in karma or not bt do good so as to find mental peace.

Verdict is still out on that one for me...either I did something unknowingly bad in a past life that I can't remember or I'm saving up for a really big payout in the Karmic department during a discount special some years down the line lol.

Seriously though, I haven't seen a lot of balance coming back yet ...so it makes me wonder if it's more like how someone I knew explained their view on Karma. They don't believe in it per-say, the feel it's a cycle that goes through periods just like a wall clock makes a circular rotation through the hours of day and night. There will be a cycle of day (the good times) and a cycle of night (the bad times) and it just repeats.

Karma works in mysterious (and personal) ways.

We all both receive and doll out KARMA everyday whether we are aware of it or not.

Your attitude will determine how the events of your day might go.

If you have a chronic negative attitude nothing good will come of that.

If you think the world owes you everything, you are highly mistaken, and you will not be very happy when you don't get what you want.

Here is an example of a small dash of Karma.

A business in my town sold me a swirl soft serve ice cream cone that was going sour. He refused to replace my cone for a different flavor, for free. I had to pay for it. He denied there was anything wrong with his product. He refused to taste it himself. He almost refused to take it back when I handed it to him. I told him to throw it in the trash. I paid for another cone, different flavor.

Then I wrote about this in my blog. I don't think he read it but others did. I'm sure it hasn't helped his business, but he has no way of knowing that. I have a website about my town where I list all the restaurants in town. I took his free listing off of that page.

One day he emails me and asks me why his restaurant is no longer listed. He has no idea I am the same person he treated badly at his restaurant. I didn't respond to his email, but I did decide to also remove his business from my business directory on the website.

That $1.25 cent cone cost him a lot. He lost business and free advertising. He still has no clue.

Karma is not always apparent.

But it is real.
