If you had a choice to select one of the five senses and live without the other four, which of those five senses do you feel you could comfortably live with and not do without?noway

If I could only keep one, it would be my hearing. I wouldn't want to lose my ability to communicate. At least I'd be able to recognize their voice's. I could still listen to my favourite songs :)

I'm torn between touch and hearing, but since I have no one to touch anyway, I suppose I'll have to agree with Shy on this one.

I like your choice and reasoning Shy.

Sight for me. The other senses you can mostly replace with technology and so long as you can read the things you'd get by and I like reading books and watching films as well.

Thankyou :)

This question was a real tough one for me. It was so hard to choose. It took me nearly a whole hour just to decide. laugh

Sight ........have seen those that have lost these things and sight is the one I would not want to give up...All the others I could deal with...

I often wonder if sight is not the one sense we would be better off without ?
Because it is sight which makes most of us so shallow and judgmental
Without it we would all be equally as beautiful !
Though true we would miss much without it as well...

I'd have to say sight as well.. and agree with another poster that technology can pretty much help in the other areas but I'd be hard put to NOT be able to see the wonderment of the world, OR the love in the eyes of my dear ones..

Maybe if we were born without it may be different.

But I have watched my kids grandmother loose her sight the last few years and it has been pure hell for her... She says that she would give anything to just have her sight back...It is sad to watch and hear her talk about the darkness she is in...

The sense of touch is a must.

Helen Keller survived and somewhat thrived although she was blind and deaf.

I need the sense of touch to warn me about potential dangers to my body.

Suppose that I put my hand on something extremely hot, but I did not have the sense of touch. I could accidentally give myself a third-degree burn.

I wouldn't be able to survive with only one sense.
If you took away 4 senses and are left with only one, you would notice just what I mean.
You'd be easy prey for any predator that comes along.

I have a cousin who lost his sight after an operation. He recognizes voices though. I have an aunt who has been deaf all her life, but she reads lips fairly well. I saw a show about a girl who doesn't feel pain and has had to have partials made in order to chew her food. That leaves two senses taste and the ability to smell. Hmm it's funny how we can only taste whatever we smell. Personally I have had a cold so bad that I could not taste the chicken noodle soup I ate for comfort. I am thankful for all these senses although I could do without hearing a lot of the insults and negative things that people say......

It would have to be sight. I would die without books...without the printed word.
