Aside from the racial undertone
('white people' could easily be replaced with just 'some people') I totally agree with the article,, but more importantly, the responses truly give me hope http://globalgrind.com/news/what-white-people-dont-understand-about-rachel-jeantel-trayvon-martin-blog |

Apparently, Rachel Samara (the author of that linked-to column) is practicing racism because she is judging the members of the jury by the color of their skin.

Racists!
I will not be sharing my Mountain Dew or Oreos with any of you! |

In her column, Rachel Samara says, ". . . if the 5 white jurors (excluding the 1 Latina) are like most white people I know . . ."
Being that she lives in NYC, is Samara saying that white residents of NYC are racists? |

What bothers me about Rachel Samara's commentary is that she assumes that the members of the jury are naive about the cultural background of Rachel Jeantel just because the jury members are outwardly white.

Apparently, Rachel Samara (the author of that linked-to column) is practicing racism because she is judging the members of the jury by the color of their skin. apparently,, that is why I posted that the racial undertone was not necessary,,,,,but the article still rings true in terms of why many people will not understand or 'get' this witness |

Who believes when white people are referred to as "Crackers" that they are racist? it depends upon the context,,,,but in this context, since he had called Z a nig$$ prior to that, and then a cracka ,,,it would seem it was his slang for race in general,,,,not knowing Z was white until he got closer,,,, |

Pure racist, ghetto-rat, trash.
She lied before, she'll lie again. Whatever she says he said is pure hearsay. Won't take much for a good defense attorney to trip her up and get her sent to jail when he shows her lying again. |

Pure racist, ghetto-rat, trash. Calling a human being "trash" is just plain wrong. |

I understand what msharmony is saying in the OP. She isn't agreeing with the racist undertone of the linked-to article, just with the defense of Rachel Jeantel.

Fact. The only thing that can be proven is she had a conversation with dead thug Fact. Content of said conversation cannot be called fact unless, said conversation was recorded. Does a recording exist? I won't be surprised to hear ghetto-rat lies again. Any bets? BTW Link was overtly racist. |

Both the prosecution and defense had a hand in jury selection.
The judge gave the usual warnings to that jury. Any comments made by anyone as to the members of the jury on color, race or creed, is definitely racist since the selection has been made, by both parties, and the trial has begun. |
