Topic: why we wont get along... | |
---|---|
America is divided...as are most other countries...
Politically, religiously, racially, .....ethnically. The problem is ......we are right and they are wrong. I am guilty. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all use our passions, rescources and energies for making this world better for ourselves...our children...and those who would call us "fore fathers "...or "foremothers " ? I mean...isn't that what we all desire? A better world. I would like to pretend actually caring would make a difference ....but, it won't. People will still hate the "right "...or they will schitt talk the "left " But it gets us no where as a people. I am just as guilty as as all of you will tell me I am wrong cause I don't share your ideology. So......you tell me....what can I do as an American ...to make this world a better place for all of us? |

Wow... Thank you fellas... I know I have been a douche to both of you. Thank you for constructive answers. As you stated, we are all individuals, divided, independent, yet incivisable under a constitution granting "liberty and justice for all". 565 elite a$$holes can't truly have their finger on the pulse of 300,000,000 people, the body public, when their time is spent hobknobing with others of their own statist click, bankers, lobbyists and corporate CEOs. The only interaction they have with the body public is what their aids allow, or when they are campaigning for re-election, and following talking points based on a media perception of public opinion.... which is really only what the media wants us all to believe it is. Something that is ALL wrong can never be tweaked or conformed into something right |

maybe Plato was right, and it just has become too big!
Probably smaller Republics with Treaties among each other! Or return the power to Govern where it rightfully belongs to,The States! We see it here in Switzerland, small Country, yet every year, the Federal Government arrogates itself Powers that traditionally belonged to the Cantons(States)! |

maybe Plato was right, and it just has become too big! Probably smaller Republics with Treaties among each other! Or return the power to Govern where it rightfully belongs to,The States! We see it here in Switzerland, small Country, yet every year, the Federal Government arrogates itself Powers that traditionally belonged to the Cantons(States)! Most political ideologies were created by ancient city-states (for the sake of this debate I will exclude those societies ruled by an absolute monarch). The citizens tended to participate in government more than we do in modern democracies (cf. Democratic Athens and Republican Rome), but not every individual was a citizen. As these states grew into empires and nations, so did the bureaucracy. States federated into nations and federal governments came into existence and the concomitant bureaucracy wanted uniformity across the states for efficiency and equity, so the federal government assumes some of the powers of member states. The problem is that many states wish to retain control and argue from a parochial stance in order to justify their existence as another tier in government. Many idealise the city-state system as opposed to the federal and national form of political structure, however, they tend overlook the constant interstate warfare that existed with such a system. |

Everybody wants to make this world a better place for themselves and the people who come after them.
The problem is that everybody has a different idea of what that better world should be like and how we should get there. And nobody wants to admit that they might just maybe could be wrong. Everybody else is just trying to get through the day with enough to eat, a dry place to sleep, and not getting shot by one of the other folks. |

How about this. I'll be the first to do it. Personal responsiblity. I'll take the blame, for all of it. It was my fault, I admit it. I meant well, but things just got out of hand, and I lost control.
I apologize and will do my best not to let this happen again. Now, let us start from scratch. |

personal responsibility and empathy
we arent meant to be robots with all the same opinions,, or beliefs and there are things and people and opinions that are more 'right' than others,, nothing wrong with being right at all not much to be done about that,,,but Im on a tangent now..lol ok, what CAN be done, to love people and treat people with decency those are the two easiest things to do,,, |

You're guilty of what exactly? Whatever we do, may never be enough, because the world needs too much stuff, in order to put it right again. You can only do so much. For a start, greedy millionaires could give more to charities, but that's not the only thing. I believe many people in this world really don't care about what happens to the world. It's a sad fact that they only take interest in what revolves around them. What I'm saying, is don't put so much pressure on yourself to correct everything.

As an American . . . as a human being foremost . . . live the Golden Rule. It is NOT easy, which is why so few people get anywhere close to doing it. But those who keep trying . . . are generally much loved. And a good example goes a loooong way.
