My son did it! He passed his candidacy exam today for his PhD in Electrical Engineering! I am so proud of him and I wanted to share the blessings with my Mingle friends! I can't imagine how difficult an exam in electrical engineering must be - my mind reels to try to comprehend! This BTW is the same son who I have talked about on here before who was put in special ed, and got in trouble for staring out the window in 4th grade....lol He is only 25 too which is remarkable. Victory is yours dear son, and no one deserves it more! I love you with all my  and always will. Aside from your academic achievements you are probably genuinely one of the the nicest & kindest persons in existence

This young man has been working 6 and 7 days a week, 10-12+ hours a day in a university research program to keep the funding he needs for his degree. (Oh and thanks for the Ubuntu :) ) No one deserves this more than you do, son. I have always been proud of you, my small, wide-eyed, quiet observer of the universe has grown up & widened his view of the universe today. (He also has a Physics degree). Please help me congratulate this fine young man! Congratulation to both of you! A smart woman with hockey in her blood and a proud mother of a highly educated son.My best wishes with your son. (Iam free from electrical shock as I keep myself fully insulated..) :-) |

Wow, an EE. I work with them a lot. Congrats! thanks. he's the only EE I evet met :) I think he was smart to go with the EE, orignially he wanted PhD in Physics. But the EE is allowing him to build a supercomputer.....so he reminds me now, more that ever, of that happy toddler content in the garden dirt with his building projects. Back them of course it was Tonka Trucks and lego cities :) thanks mg |

That is such an incredible accomplishment. As his mom It must be mind boggling for you to think that he could one day invent, or work on something that could make a real difference in the world when you look at him and still see your little boy (as most moms do)

he is already in the process of inventing! he has inherited his uncle's gift of being able to create something out of nothing :) I see him as a grown and capable man, but yes as all moms do, I still see him as a child. I remember his ways then, and he is not much different now really. He still doesn't clean his room

thanks rawr - I think he had a few ...he was on H2O replenishment therapy all day and turned down wine for dinner
we had a celebratory meal this evening. it was great to see him and his brother! they are building computers so I was all ears and learned bunches! thanks for your good wishes Rawr - ur the best
Oh stop it, you charmer ;). Those drinks were well deserved if you ask me :). If I had children, I'm sure I would do the same. Rock on.

I know you will do the same someday....life's best gift is children who want to leave a positive footprint! I can support that 100%! He works incredibly hard rawr, and he has a sweetheart for a girlfriend. They are 2 peas in a pod. I think it works because she is a biomedical engineer with 2 jobs....so with both of them having little free time, no one is sitting at home complaining that the other is never available - neither of them is available....most of the time...lol |

thanks leigh! he's pretty amazing... I think he's going to be teaching some classes soon at the college level. He doesn't want to teach as a profession as far as I know, but for the time that he does teach I know his students will absolutely love him. he has that effect on people |
