So I mentioned the other day that I work at a casino and that I am taking classes for becoming a poker dealer ...I am actually a cook.. All the ads are now about helping me break my gambling addiction...kinds makes me feel unclean....so.... I gotta ask .....should I follow the ads and check myself into rehab? I may be addicted to something that I haven't done...this IS the Internet ... They wouldn't say it. If it weren't true. Just trying to figure out if I should love my cool job or quit cause all the robot ads say I need to be locked up in a rehabilitation facility. Help me out Mark or Charles....

Most people are targeted for something on the internet. First step in correcting any problem, is knowing Yourself, that You have a problem.

First don't believe everything you read on the internet. If you think you got issues go in and see someone and let them decide if got got a problem!

I think you are suggesting that chatting in the forums can render key words which can somehow get targeted by advertisers. Interesting, though I have no idea how tis done. I know I filled a prescription at a local pharmacy (which requested my email on the form) and within a week I was getting hundreds of emails about how to get that particular prescription cheaper online. But I am unsure, other than the keyword theory, how they got onto you. It could also be coincidence, like, those same ads were there before, but NOW as they are more pertinent, you notice them? I vote for not quitting the job for rehab :-)

I've noticed it several times..whatever subject is being discussed, an ad will pop up about it..it has to be a keyword...it's even in the email section. For instance, you mentioned you were a cook..and look what the ad is....deli sandwiches.

Plenty of people here may need to be "locked up" but not for a gambling addiction.

Taking classes to become a dealer seems to me that you are attempting to learn a trade in order to make better money. Bettering yourself is not a problem. Being a cook is not a problem unless you are unhappy. If becoming a dealer would make you happier with your work then, again, no problem. You can not and must not gamble if you are the dealer. If you have a gambling problem right now, then YOU know already that becoming a dealer is not a smart choice.
