Of course you realize that the first lady as the wife of the president, although she has no legal powers, is as much a representative of our government as the president, and has been for
decades. But maybe that is too simple a concept for some folks to
understand.

She is a Propaganda Tool for the leftist media. Not our government.

would you care to post the appropriate Article in the Constitution that covers it?

To me it's a non-issue; conspiracies aside. Depending on what part of Chicago, it would be incredibly hard to sweep the area necessary to guarantee the safety of the office.
Going to the funeral was the honorable thing. 1st lady's hometown and hosting the young lady at the Whitehouse.

She is not an official paid employee or representative.

If you want to put her in that role for some reason, that is entirely an honorary role given to her by the people who think of her that way.

Nobody cares if she went or not, that's her private business. The Press, on the other hand has nothing better to do than make a major event out of it.

I don't want to get involved in your politics... but

you "the American" public create a media machine with your need for more information to be exposed. Then you complain because something positive comes of it? Exposure to needless deaths? Mourning?

There's a serious need for gun reform... The real politicians are stepping up... If that includes Mrs Obama? Fantastic!

Yes of course there is no Article of the Constitution that spells out the duties of the first lady.

Perhaps she should just be a good little wife, wear a burka, and stay in the white house kitchen making felafels.
