Topic: --- Do you ever remember seeing your parents in love? --- | |
---|---|
I was watching a movie tonight and it dawned on me that I don't have memories of seeing my parents in love. I remember furniture being thrown through the air, and swear words screaming through the night exchanged from my step father and my mother. I'm not sure I've ever been given the example of what a healthy relationship ought to be.
It's very sad and something I wish I didn't have a hand in for the next generation but I don't think he's seen a healthy relationship in his young life, and was too young to see his parents in love. I don't want this to carry on anymore |

I see minge2 has added two links to what I wrote. I understand you need revenue from somewhere but wtf? ...really?

I see it's some keyword ad thingie. I type 'healthy' and get tips for a flat stomach. I type 'young life' and I get ads for becoming a social worker. Cut that **** out or I'm gone and I'm sure a bunch of others too. I don't mind ads but there is a point of taking it too far

Gee, it's only one ad now. The 'healthy' link is gone but the 'young life' is still there. What we write on here is our business and linking ads to our words is not appropriate IMHO. Stop, for your sake

I see 'becoming a social worker' has triggered their ad networks as well. Yes, this is a free dating site I acknowledge but it shouldn't be done this way. This post is to the admins and those who make the decisions. Don't link my words to their ads, no matter how much they promise. That's total bs

Interesting, my OP no longer contains ad links but my follow up posts do. The ads must be limited to two links I assume since that's what I've observed. Two is two too many

While we can sympathize with you to a degree, WithOrWithoutYou, we're not doing anything different from other sites on the web (Gmail, Yahoo mail, etc.). Ads are a big part of our revenue stream and keep the site going, and targeted ads will continue to be a part of the landscape.

Like I said before, I don't have an issue with ads. It's just, this is the first time I've seen on this site where certain words we type become a link to an ad which I don't like, and think that form of advertising is a bit invasive. |

I never recall one moment when I heard my parents argue. I am sure they must have sometimes but they never did it in front of us kids.

I never saw my parents..loving the other.
They loved the kids, the picture perfect family, but I never saw them kiss, or hug, or say anything affectionate to the other. We just went along, like everyone did. When they divorced after 14 years no one was surprised. It always seemed more right than their union. I do not feel scarred by that in any way. Maybe resolute, not to repeat such an existence. |

My parents were always in love. They were married for 55 years. My father ended up sick (Alzheimers) and my Mom could no longer care for him. His last 3 years were spent in a nursing home. My Mom would drive to the nursing home twice a day to feed him. I asked her why she did this because they have staff to do this and that maybe she could take a day off. She told me that I don't want your Dad to be hungry. Still melts my heart...........

That is very Sad.
I seen my Parents loving; they were very close and when my Mother passed away after 43 years of marriage my Dad just couldn't function very well without her for years. I only wish I could have had such a marriage; they both worked at staying together and raising their family which included me. I got divorced after 8 years of marriage because my husband was a Adulter. We did have 6 years of Bliss but then it all went down hill. People are very fortunate to find and keep a loving partner. |

I walked in on my parents one time....
That's when i learnt how to knock first. |

|
My parents were married for 67 years until my fathers passing in August of 2011...They were madly in love right up to the end ...My mother is still "in love" with daddy...

My parents were very undemonstrative. I always assumed that my mother decided pretty soon that she had made a mistake, but had too much pride to admit it. Plus, people didn't get divorced in those days.
I remember going to a friend's house one time and being stunned to discover that her parents didn't have separate rooms. What could that mean!!!! (I had no idea, I was just a kid, but it seemed slightly scandalous.) |

Never not once. However my friend has been married for 30 yrs and I enjoy watching him and his wife togather.

My parents had arguments....but they were few and far between. I grew up in a loving home and saw them love one another. It's the reason I believed (and still do) believe that you can fall in love.

My parents were not affectionate either, lots of arguments..and my mother was a cold and controling woman... I couldn't wait to leave home.. My younger sister and I both married within several months of graduating high school...
My mothers younger sister told me once that my mom was her fathers favorite.. my grandma died when my mom was 11 and she took over raising her sisters and brother..I think my mom was abused at that time which caused her to be like she was.. |
