the idea behind the second amendment is to give "THE PEOPLE" the power to be able to keep the govt from becoming oppressive an overbearing--- the second amendment gives "THE PEOPLE" the right to by any weapon they choose m1 tank anyone or how about an f-15 or b1 bomber sound like a joke but that is why the second amendment is there |

I know a lot of people who own AR's and AK's and various other weaponry, and I'd trust them before the cops any day. It's unfortunate that more people don't understand that the purpose (well, one of them) of the second amendment is to allow citizens to protect themselves from government force foreign and domestic. |

Where's the definition of a "well regulated militia"? national guard That isn't possible since the "National Guard" didn't exist when the Constitution was written. The Supreme Court has already ruled that the "right to bear arms" specifically refers to the citizens of the US. |

That is why they government is as powerful as it is, no militia could stand up to the weapons it possesses. |
