is it advisable to give up my phone number and email address to someone I just met on this site?

I would advise to give it some time. Too many times those that want a phone number or personal e-mail addy are scammers. Best to play it safe first... We have e-mail here that works just fine and this is what I tell those that try to get me to go off this site...
If in doubt look below their e-mail and click report this user and ask Admin to check to see if they are a scammer.. If later their profile says deactivated most likely they were a scammer and you just saved you and others the headache...

get to know them first.. there's even an IM feature on this site so people don't have to go to MSN or YAHOO chat.. and like Txs said.. the emails here work just fine!
