Violence always begets violence. I am still hoping people will become enlightened and stop killing each other.

Defending yourself is one thing. It means that all they need to do is shoot down each rocket as it comes in. They have the technology to do that. Dropping bombs to assassinate people is not defending yourself.

(Note to Bestinshow: I am not a cheerleader for that, I'm just revealing the plan of the Elite Oil Barons. Conrad is the cheerleader. He wants an all out war. Hotroddeluxe believes it won't happen.)

I'm hoping Hotrod is right. Conrad doesn't know what he is cheering for.

I been studying the Mideast for longer than I care to remember!
And if you think that Israel is going to continue eating Feces from Hamas because Egypt or Iran might jump in,then you better think again!
You all forget, the subservient crawling Jew died in the Warsaw Ghetto-Uprising,and the one you're dealing with now will stomp a Mudhole in you if you screw with him!

The same people who were the evil behind Hitler are now running Israel. You can recognize them by the way they operate.

Both sides are determined to fight until death and death is what will happen to both sides.

And neither side gives a crap about how that will effect the rest of the world. They are consumed with hate. It has to stop or they will destroy the world.

Anyone who stands at the side lines and cheers them on will reap the back lash of that war along with billions of innocents.

I am ashamed to even be a member of the human race if that is the way they are.

If Israel would do something kind and constructive, like helping the people of Gaza, sending them aid, rebuilding the bombed out cities, building hospitals, and oh, how about giving them back their homes, then maybe they could begin to mend the hatred instead of creating more terrorists.

But that will never happen. The Arabs of today will never forgive and they will never forget. It would take generations of kindness and good will to achieve peace. Generations... Not just a few years. All they are creating right now is more hatred killing each other.

It is very important that the Israelis respond forcefully and swiftly
to any rocket launches against their civilians. To quote Obama and
our government, "There is no justification for Hamas rocket attacks
on Israeli civilians" and Israel has a responsibility to protect all
of their citizens.

If Hamas/Islamic Jihad or another such group was launching rockets
(hundreds of them) into the US, I would expect our government to do
everything in their power to track down and eliminate those who were
launching the attacks just as we did with Al-Qaeda.

I respect Israel's right to defend themselves and their swift and
appropriate steps in that defense. Those launching indiscriminate
rocket attacks must be confronted and destroyed immediately and as
thoroughly as possible.

EU, Merkel say Israel has right to "defend itself"
Source: Reuters

BRUSSELS, BERLIN, JERUSALEM -- EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and German Chancellor Angela Merkel issued statements on Friday saying that Israel has "a right to defend itself".

“The rocket attacks by Hamas and other factions in Gaza, which began this current crisis are totally unacceptable for any government and must stop,” Ashton was quoted as saying by Reuters, and adding:

Israel has the right to protect its population from these kind of attacks. I urge Israel to ensure that its response is proportionate."

Ashton also stated that she had spoken "with leaders in the region, including Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and the office of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi", as to how best to de-escalate the situation.

A German government spokesman said on Friday that Merkel is "very worried" about an escalation of violence in the Middle East and calls on Hamas to immediately stop shooting rockets from Gaza into Israel."

"Hamas in Gaza is responsible for the outbreak of violence," spokesman Georg Streiter told a news conference, and added that Merkel called on the Egyptian government to use its influence on Hamas "to limit the violence and bring it to an end."

If Israel would do something kind and constructive, like helping the people of Gaza, sending them aid, rebuilding the bombed out cities, building hospitals, and oh, how about giving them back their homes, then maybe they could begin to mend the hatred instead of creating more terrorists.

Israel DOES supply all kinds of humanitarian aid to Gaza, supplying
all manner of provisions, energy and non-military supplies.
Israel warns civilians to stay away from combat areas.

Israel has every right and in fact has the responsibility to eliminate
the Hamas rocket threat by eliminating the rockets, launchers and
terrorists who are planning and carrying out the attacks.

Hamas fires rockets at innocent civilians. Hamas uses Gazans as
human shields and puts their lives in danger for no reason.

Hamas is responsible for the escalation in attacks and the Israeli
response needed to stop it. All Hamas has to do is stop the rocket
attacks. I pray they do it right away to avoid further bloodshed.

The US and EU as stated above recognize that Hamas is at fault in
this conflict and that Hamas is responsible for deaths on both sides
and Hamas can end it at any time by ceasing the rocket attacks.

Gillard condemns attacks on Israel

Date November 16, 2012 - 12:25PM

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has condemned the attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip, saying the rocket attacks will not help the Palestinian campaign for self-determination.

In a statement, Ms Gillard said Australia was gravely concerned by the escalating conflict.

''The government condemns the repeated rocket and mortar attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip and calls on Hamas to cease these immediately,'' Ms Gillard said.

''Australia supports Israel's right to defend itself against these indiscriminate attacks. Such attacks on Israel's civilian population are utterly unacceptable.''

She urged both Israel and Hamas to exercise restraint, and said any escalation in the attacks by Hamas ''will not serve the interests of the Palestinian people or their cause for self-determination and statehood''.

''The government of Australia will work earnestly with other countries to end further attacks from Gaza and to encourage a de-escalation of this conflict,'' she said.

''We encourage regional countries, particularly Egypt, to support efforts to restore peace.

''The only way forward is a two-state solution based on direct negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis.''

In Sydney, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott told reporters that Israel's actions were justified.

''Israel has a right to self-defence and Israel has been under pretty serious attack from elements in Gaza for quite some time now,'' Mr Abbott said.

''The authorities in Gaza plainly are not stopping those attacks and it's perfectly appropriate for Israel to take strong steps in response.

''Australia should do what it can to ensure the countries of the Middle East recognise and acknowledge Israel's right to exist within secure borders.''

Foreign Minister Bob Carr and Environment Minister Tony Burke urged restraint.

But Mr Burke said there was little Australia could do in practical terms.

''We can't pretend that a nation like ourselves is going to be able to ride in and simply fix this,'' Mr Burke told the Seven Network on Friday.

''But the call for restraint should be made by Australia, it's being made by countries around the world, because ultimately until you end up with a two-state solution the (alternative) will always be conflict.''

Israel has carried out 24 hours of air strikes on Gaza, killing 15 Palestinians, at least seven of them Hamas militants, while over the same period, militants fired more than 200 rockets at Israel, killing three people and injuring 16, AFP has reported.

An examination of the claims that Israel can intercept all the missiles launched from Gaza using 'Iron Dome'.

A Qassam rocket is displayed in Sderot town hall against a background of pictures of residents killed in rocket attacks
The introduction of the Qassam rocket took Israeli politicians and military experts by surprise, and reactions have been mixed. In 2006, the Israeli Ministry of Defense viewed the Qassams as "more a psychological than physical threat." A 2008 study found that over half of Sderot's residents have been hurt, either physically or psychologically by Qassams. The Israel Defence Force has reacted to the deployment of the Qassam rockets by deploying the Red Color early warning system in Sderot, Ashkelon and other at-risk targets. The system consists of an advanced radar that detects rockets as they are being launched, and loudspeakers warn civilians to take cover between 15 and 45 seconds before impact in an attempt to minimize the threat posed by the rockets. A system called Iron Dome, designed to intercept the rockets before they can hit their targets, is in use since March 2011. A system based on lasers (Nautilios) was researched in a joint Israeli-American project in the early 2000s, but was discontinued.

On Iron Dome's effectiveness:

Effectiveness compared to other systems

Iron Dome has been criticized as ineffective in countering the Qassam threat for the southern city of Sderot, given the short distance and flight time between the much-attacked city and the rocket launching pads in the Gaza Strip. Other anti-rocket systems, such as the Nautilus laser defense system, were argued to be more effective. From 1995 to 2005, the United States and Israel jointly developed Nautilus but scrapped the system after concluding it was not feasible, having spent $600 million. The US Navy continued R&D on the system. American defense company Northrop Grumman proposed developing a more advanced prototype of Nautilus, Skyguard. Skyguard would use laser beams to intercept rockets, with each beam discharge costing an estimated $1,000–$2,000. With an investment of $180 million, Northrop Grumman claims it could possibly deploy the system within 18 months. Israeli defense officials have rejected the proposal, citing the extended timeline and additional costs.

So, the technology to intercept missiles, while effective to a degree, it clearly cannot intercept every launch.

All casualties in this conflict are due to Hamas for launching and
perpetuating the rocket attacks from Gaza civilian areas towards Israeli civilians.

Hopefully the Israelis will be able to wipe out Hamas' rocket capability
for the most part and Hamas will stop launching rockets.

Lets hope the US stops backing Israel militarily and they stop acting like Nazis and actually negotiate in good faith.

Lets hope Israel signs the non proliferation treaty so we can have nuclear free middle east.

That can't happen. You would have to go into Iran and knock out the rocket factories. The rockets are fairly small and portable.

whoa

Israel is ready for peace at anytime Hamas stops firing rockets
at its cities and towns.

No one has ever been threatened with Israeli nuclear weapons.

Iran and it's proxies Hezbollah and Hamas threaten the annihilation
of Israel daily.

Yet you inexplicably deride Israel for their peaceful, liberal, free
and democratic society while you fail to condemn Hamas for their
homocidal, discriminatory and war criminal attacks against innocent
civilians. Nice.

Peace is as easy as Hamas laying down arms and cessation of rocket
attacks on innocent Israeli civilians. Watch. It'll happen sooner or
later.

There was a protracted period of peace and much reduced rocket attacks
after the last such Operation Cast Lead!

Even if all the rockets were not completely knocked out...

It does not matter how hard or forcibly Isreal responds. The future is quite bleak. The Palestinians live in a huge concentration camp, thereby creating future leaders towards continued war and resentment. Isreal will have to attempt to erase a people to prevent revenge from a people confined to a warehouse of human suffering. What maintains Isreals capabilities is wealth. One day that wealth will evaporate, then their war machine will not be as effective. The Palastinians fight with nothing, yet they fight. This means that they dispite their limited military means, fight on. I can just imagin the kind of war if the Palestinians had the same capabilities. Isreal is teaching young Palestinians the future. The Palestinians do not fear the power of Isreals resources, they face a machine and still stand and fight. Admirable to say the least. I can just imagin the future when the tide turns as it always does. When the mighty today, can and will not be powerfull for ever. Afterall, forever is a long time.

Gaza is free. The problem is that they abuse their freedom to attack
Israeli civilians forcing Israel to respond militarily.
