In your area, what does a one bedroom apartment normally go for? What about two bedroom? What is the typical rent where you live?

So Cal.

1 bedroom, is from 900-1100, the lower may be in a bad area.
2 bedroom is from 1300-1500
3 bedroom is from 1500 - 1800

2-3 bedroom houses start at 1600 in a bad area, and start about 1800 in decent areas.

Salaries are a bit larger though, if educated and established in a career.

Yep, very similar to Northern VA, where I used to live. However, I hated living there. laugh

Its expensive and the traffic in horrendous, but there's so much to do. I am never bored and like all the variety and close proximity of mountains, beach and entertainment.

Unfortunately, Northern VA had the expensive rent, horrendous traffic, but lacked the rest.

I live in a more rural area, 10-15 miles between two bigger cities.. I pay $750..I have a living room, dining area and kitchen combined plus a huge bedroom with a large walkin closet plus another small room I use for an office and storage and a small laundry room.. Utilities are all included ( I pay cable and phone)... They will be putting in new carpet (whole apt and new tile in kit and bathroom) in the spring...I also have a woodburner stove in my lr and a garage.. I can go out my front door and be on the pool deck..lol My apartment is in a bldg with two garages but I have lots of windows and it is perfect size for me and the cat...

Average apartment rental for a one bedroom is about 1500.00 here. My mortgage is only 636.00 a month. Guess I bought at the right time.

Tucson is a big city so prices vary due to location. I live on the east side and pay 389 plus electric for a 650 square ft. one bed room. On the south side you can get a 3 bedroom trailer for 350 plus electric and water. But it isnt exactly the safest neighbor hood.

Around here (Dallas/Fort Worth) the closer you are to Dallas, the higher your rent. So, I like to rent on the East side of Tarrant County (the Ft. Worth area). I currently live in Arlington just a couple of miles from both the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium and the Texas Rangers Ballpark.

I came very close yo renting a studio (443 sq ft) for $430 plus water and electric. It's not a good neighborhood, but I work nights, so people partying in the parking lot all night doesn't disturb me. Having lived in a truck, 443 sq ft seemed like a palace.

But, I decided to move back into a truck and live on the road for a while and save on rent and utilities. I'll also make more money on the road. I just won't have much of a social life.

Anyone interested in keeping up with my travels can send me a message and I'll tell you how. I'll likely be blogging too.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, where I live, rent can be

$1700 to over 2500 for a 2bdrm.
$1200 + for a single bedroom.
A lot of studios are starting to go for over a thousand as well.

At one time, I would have considered moving to San Francisco, but it's just too expensive. Fun to visit, though!

That sounds awesome. I need to live closer to the city, though.

Humm well I live on the NW side of Fort Worth and the apartments around here run ....

1 bedroom - $500 - $650

2 bedroom - $650 - up

3 bedroom - $750 - up

You can get a 3 bedroom house from $800 - up

Actually had to look them up and these are some decent apartments.. The houses that run around $650 -$900 are at time in older neigherbor hoods... Your going to be looking at least $1,000- up for a newer home for 2-3 bedrooms ....

Myself bought mine in a older neighborhood years ago and my mortage was under $300... but now paid for...

Houses around me rent anywhere from $600- $900 a month .....older neigherbor hoods but quiet ones as well...

And everything as far as shopping and eating is within 2 miles of me...

The Los Angeles area in general, STARTS AT $950! If you want to live in super high density PJ housing a one bedroom is $750 (and you had better carry a gun concealed whether the law has an issue with that or not!) Its free if you are on welfare here!

Now for the real world in Los Angeles. Let us go to the South Bay of Los Angeles. Brace yourself, $1100 with no garage (Street Parking). And we are talking about 650 square feet AVERAGE. Now if you go WAY inland it will drop to about $750 a month for the same size place.

A place with a garage is $1200 to $1300 a month. Worst is if you want to live in a "Beach City." The rent is ridiculous there. A one bedroom there STARTS around $1300 and goes up from there. Apartments right on the beach are about $2000 to $6000 a month depending on which city and which area of the beach. There are rental houses here in Los Angeles that go for $16000 a MONTH FOR REALS AND THEY ARE NOT ESTATE COMPOUNDS! Hell, when I was house hunting one person wanted to rent me a illegally converted garage for $1200 because it was in Manhattan Beach.

There is a lot to see and do in the Bay Area. I've thought about relocating, but I've lived in this area so long, I couldn't see myself anywhere else.

In Orlando you can expect to pay 600-800 for a 1bdrm and the 600 ones are not soooo nice. 2 bedrooms run 950and up and I have seen 3 bdrms start at 1100 on up. Downtown is a different story. 1 bdrms start over 1000...
