Topic: Advice for the long haul? | |
---|---|
As my nephews and nieces got married over the
years they would ask me for advice. I found myself repeating the same thing to them, dependent upon their gender. It would go like this: To the boys: "This woman is willing to clean your toilets for the rest of her life. Give her anything she wants." To the girls: "Remember your wedding day. This is the man you chose above all others. Remember the reasons, and hold them close." Jointly, I would tell them: "You will know each other's faults better than anyone. Keep them folded away, like old flags. Respected, as part of the whole." Have you handed out advice, for the long haul? |

I would say communicate daily. . .Don't let little things fester into big things.
take the time to show your love . |
|
|
|
I tell them to love and respect the other. Even when the other is unlovable and unrespectable.

I would say communicate daily. . .Don't let little things fester into big things. take the time to show your love . So important eh? communication is very important, don't want to be guessing what the other is thinking, usually makes an "***" out of "u" and "me". and never got to bed mad or angry, talk it out first,,, |

Be interested in their lives, listen and never let the sun go down on your anger.

Don't stop doing the little things... they become big things over time.

I tell them to love and respect the other. Even when the other is unlovable and unrespectable. And it will happen, sooner or later. Nice. |

Have you handed out advice, for the long haul? Yes, I have, three or four times to be correct. To two of my friends, who were about to get married, I said, "you gone mad? That woman of them all, too?" Those two marriages worked out to be perfect and have worked in the long haul. To my brother I advised to kill his wife. She is still alive, and their marriage is happier than ever. How has your track record been, Soufie? Mine seems to have a -1 correlation, but that's just fine by everyone. ----------- Edit... before anyone goes and gets a cow, I advised my sister-in-law at the same time to kill my brother. No, their names are not Mr. and Mrs. Smith. |

Be interested in their lives, listen and never let the sun go down on your anger. True, or your son go down on his teacher. (old pun, but doing it is in style... one guy said that "assume" pun already. So please don't kill me, kill the messenger instead.) |

Be interested in their lives, listen and never let the sun go down on your anger. This is so true, to be interested in their lives. Even if you have to fake it. The trying counts. |

As my nephews and nieces got married over the years they would ask me for advice. I found myself repeating the same thing to them, dependent upon their gender. It is unclear, due to the inherent limitations in the language, how many nNns you advised, and how many times the advice was given. Could be seven nNns, for instance, and 593 different times that the advice combinations were given. This is not for sure, but is possible as per the wording of your OP. Have your nNns figured out yet that AuNtIe SoUfIe WaNtS a CoOkIe? |
