as Ive noted many times before, there is no era in american history without injustices and obstacles,,so Im not for eliminating technology at all because it has many perks

msharmony...It's not easy to "say nothing" and walk-away from a potential "fight." But if someone is engaging in non-stop sarcasm or "slurs" (or snide remarks) I don't consider the person a "fair and balanced" or truly open-minded debating partner...I just feel that it's best to walk-away and leave someone like this "be." I'm not afraid of "fighting." In the old days I could be quite a "rebel-rouser!" (Self-righteous?)...I was very idealistic and believed that the world might come to an end if I didn't "convert" everyone around to my beliefs and my way of thinking!...Today I tend to "pick" and "choose" my fights. (But to be honest I think that "fighting" is pretty stupid today and a waste of time.)...I enjoy open-ended discussions where everyone takes a more modest approach. (Me too!) How about you?...I agree with you about satire! Sometimes it's healthy to take a step-back and see some humor in life! So we don't "crack-up!"....Have to leave for awhile. I'm going to a local Christian church with a friend to see how far the pastor will take his political endorsements today. (And to observe the reactions of his "flock.") I'd attend all the services in the area if I could just to hear what is being "said" today!

I dont like to 'fight' either and I also try to walk away once a subject has run its course/gets redundant

MSM gives information across the spectrum, depending upon which shows are watched and who is sponsoring them,, so they also have a balance that you just have to look for by not obsessing too much on any one channel/commentator/show,,,,

msharmony...Things have seemed a bit lopsided in the political section of this forum..Sometimes I post in another forum and there is more of a mix and balance in their political section...Some (but not all) of the conservatives in the other forum have regrets that Romney became the nominee. (And they state "why.")...There are some "pot-shotters" on the other forum but there is deeper analysis at times too...Anyway good that you try to add some balance here...The pastor of the church I went to didn't go overboard with political endorsements today...Everyone is directed to check-out a web-site that lists each candidate's voting record in regard to "right to life" issues and their support for Israel etc. Of course Romney seems like the clear choice on the site...I hope church-goers don't think that their pastor or minister "speaks for God" when it comes to who to support for president! What do you think?

I think it is a pastors place to instruct and guide in regards to what the bible teaches on issues like the value of life, and sexual relations,family, love,,etc,,,

and I think the pastor should address it only from the standpoint of the issue without assigning it one way or another to a political candidate,,,

I agree...It seems like some Christian churches and groups are directly linked to the Republican party these days...I guess it's tied to abortion and same-sex marriage issues etc. I'm still adjusting to the Republican party being tied to religious concerns. Ths wasn't the case when I was younger.

But that is how Obama and the Democrats win elections. Obama has some of the best ones in the business working for his campaign.

Who is going to be turned into the "biggest joke?" Obama or Romney?...Or both of them? And our entire political system?...It's easy to become negative and disillusioned. And "burnt-out" in general...I don't want to get stuck in negativity to the point that I view everyone and everything as a "big joke." (And nothing else!) But I don't want to be naive either...I try to avoid hanging-out with people who have become totally "burnt-out." (When it comes to anything in life.)...I get "down." I have moments when I sink into despair and lose hope. And feel like organizing a "lynch mob" and going after anyone who has let me "down."...But I don't want to stay in this "mental state" forever and ever. (Because it just doesn't "feel good" to be totally negative and "burnt-out" 24/7 day after day.)

We've definitely become a nation of single-issue voters and groups pushing for their specific "causes" and agendas...When I was growing-up we received 2 publications in the mail each month...One came from the Catholic church. There was a section in the newsletter that rated the latest movies. Every so often the church "condemned" a certain movie. (For various reasons.) Back then there were few "R-rated" movies...The movie "Psycho" was on the "condemned list" and I thought this was odd. (I snuck in to see it anyway.)...We also received a monthly newsletter from my Dad's union. The publication had a section called: "Do Not Patronize." It listed companies (and their products) who were basically anti-union...And there was a list of companies that had recent lay-offs or "lock-outs" or "strikes" etc...Anyway early in life I learned about "group-affliations" and each group's potential influence over our lives...We might feel obligated to follow in our parent's footsteps when it comes to our religious or political beliefs. (Families are "groups" too with their own set of expectations for each "member.")
