It's an age-old question, Is age just a number? Would age keep you from dating a younger man or woman?

Age is both a number AND a state of mind. There are a lot of people in my general age range who are O-L-D. They grumble, they groan, they grouch and nothing is fun, fresh or interesting anymore...they've done it or missed it intentionally and are over it. I find that sad, frankly.

That said, I will date younger (within reason._ It's nice to have at least a little bit of shared lifetime perspective. My preference, however is my age or a few years older but with a youthful spirit.

For me, nope, I would always be wondering when he would leave for someone younger and prettier, but older is not a worry, then i feel safe:wink:

Older guys will leave a woman for someone younger and prettier too. Its quite common these days.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH dont destroy my fairy tale world, no bad things are allowed to happen in it.

I believe that to be true too, not an absolute

but usually people who are older who are attracted to the 'younger' are actually more attracted to that persons youth(and by extension how young they feel for being with them)

and not because of who they are

once they are no longer 'youthful' they are easily replaced with another youngun,,,

In 2008 I briefly dated a guy 13 years younger than me. I realized it wasn't going to work out when he didn't know who the Brady's were.

OR the first thing they think of is the big screen Brady Bunch movies.

I think connection is the most important.
Age doesnt make a person I have seen alot of 40 year old men act like 12 year old and same is true about women

 It's ok, I'm not really that insecure, But I do like older more serious men as it tends to balance out my personality.

Its call preferences. I guess as long as these old guys are enjoying themselves with the younger gals; who am I to question it?

Personally, age does make a difference to me. People tell me as I get older, the age gap that I will allow myself to date will change, but so far, 3 years in any direction from my birthday is all I can see myself going. I have hung out with some amazing friends who were 10 years older than I was at the time, but I knew really quickly that what they were looking for in life was far different than what I was looking for in life. Because of which to keep it safe, I try to keep the age thing generally close.

Please don't get me wrong though, if there was ever someone older or younger who could break that rule of mine. If both me and that person complimented each other and there was that emotional and physical attraction, I can see myself breaking my rule, but I have yet to find someone who can ya know?

It's an age-old question, Is age just a number? Would age keep you from dating a younger man or woman?

This question has come up before, I raised it myself only a month or so ago. Guidance I got from another dating website was 5 years either side of your own age, and it does seem to be good advice. However, I would not allow age difference to be a barrier in contacting someone of interest. If they specified an age range, then I would not contact them if I fell outside there interested age group.
