Say No to Hate – Eat Mor Chikin!

Here is the question that should be asked about the outcry against Chick-Fil-A’s stance in regards to traditional marriage. Are the complainers even customers to begin with? This is a Christian-owned and themed, family friendly company who has never changed their position and who have never been open on Sunday.....Read more....

We really do have to ask the question. What’s next? Banning churches, mosques, and synagogues next for not advocating or daring to oppose the attempts by some to mainstream homosexuality and same-sex marriage or teach the basic tenets of their religions? Are all Christian owned businesses now taboo, and worthy of being driven out of the marketplace? .....Read more...

There are no charges that the company has ever discriminated against homosexuals or ever engaged in any hateful conduct whatsoever. It is not their actions that our progressive friends are frothing at the mouth about, but simply the fact that someone had dared to believe in something they don’t agree with and is successful in the business world.

I know several people who used to be customers, but are no longer customers because of this.

While I am fine with their right to free speech, I have to wonder why they're so vocal about it, other than to cause controversy.

Perhaps you should ask Ben & Jerry's that question.

Maybe all of us traditionalists should boycott Ben & Jerry's and see which one goes under first? I'm not going to stop eating delicious chicken sandwiches because the management believes in traditional values...

You "traditionalists" have boycotted and protested companies for supporting gay rights.

Look what happened when General Mills and Oreo came out in support of gay people.

General Mills boycott urged over marriage amendment stance

Earlier this month General Mills came out in opposition to Minnesota's marriage amendment ballot measure. Now supporters of the proposed amendment have launched a boycott of General Mills, imploring consumers to dump their Cheerios, Yoplait, and the myriad other products the Golden Valley manufacturer makes and markets.

The National Organization for Marriage said Tuesday, June 26, that it is initiating a protest of General Mills and has launched a website with an online petition in response to General Mills taking a public position on the amendment, which seeks to preserve Minnesota law that defines marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

The website, dumpgeneralmills.com, said it had gathered more than 8,000 signatures by Tuesday evening.

"We'd like (General Mills) to step back and say they respect the views of all of their customers and employees," said Jonathan Baker, director of the Corporate Fairness Project for the National Organization for Marriage. "Eating Cheerios for breakfast shouldn't have to be a moral choice about marriage."

Oreo taking heat for gay pride rainbow cookie
MEGHAN NEAL
Wednesday, June 27, 2012

Oreo is taking some heat for a rainbow-cookie ad it posted Monday in recognition of gay pride month.

A photo posted on company’s Facebook page shows an Oreo cookie with not one but six layers of cream — one for each color of the rainbow, a symbol gay rights supporters use to show diversity. The text below the photo reads, "Proudly support love!"

Unfortunately for double-stuffed fans, the colorful creme-filled cookie isn't for sale. The fine print below the photo reads "made with crème colors that do not exist."

But while the cookie isn't real, the controversay sure is. The cookie company's show of support has triggered a feverish debate over equal rights for same-sex couples, which has played out this week has in the comments on Oreo's Facebook page.

By Wednesday afternoon the rainbow cookie post had nearly 38,000 comments and 226,000 ‘likes’ on the social media site.

While the responses were mostly positive, some commenters were outraged, even calling for a boycott of the product.

"This is absolutely disgusting. Your attempt to 'normalize' the behaviour of homosexuals has cost you a customer," one commenter wrote.

"Disliked Oreo page just because of this one post. Think about how much business u just killed oreo,” wrote another. “I can't support a business that supports gays.”

A "Boycott Oreo" Facebook page sprung up on Tuesday. It had 12 "likes" as of Wednesday afternoon.

The creator of the page wrote: "No. I do *not* hate gay people. I am not a "homophobe" … "I am against the lifestyle choice, however. It goes against Biblical principals and against how nature intended…That being said, I refuse to support the lifestyle or what Oreo/Kraft is doing. So I have decided to not buy their products."

Some people, such as the creator of this Tumblr post circulating the web, point out a true boycott would target Oreo's parent company Kraft, whose packaged food brands are ubiquitous in supermarkets.

"As a company, Kraft Foods has a proud history of celebrating diversity and inclusiveness. We feel the Oreo ad is a fun reflection of our values," Basil Maglaris, Kraft's associate director of corporate affairs, told Reuters.

He said the positive comments about the rainbow cookie far outnumber the negative.

“Thank you Oreo and Nabisco for your Pride," one commenter said. "Not only did you make an awesome statement about love and acceptance, but that cookie looked freaking delicious!!"

Well lah de dah.

The comments I've been reading on Chick-fil-a seem about 80% for them. Maybe CEO's should keep lifestyle choices out of the conversation?

I guess I just don't see the point in discriminating against people. If you're ok with that, awesome.

I don't discriminate against them, having a 3rd cousin and her partner in the family for the last 40 years....I see no point in getting up in arms over what another believes.

If you are okay with having to subject your beliefs to approval by others, awesome also.

Actually, as you can see, I said I'm fine with free speech. However, I can see why people would be bothered by what the owner of the company has said.

But yes, I have to wonder why people get up in arms about companies such as General Mills and Oreo as well. Did you read any of the comments on the third URL against Oreo? People get down right nasty when anyone supports gay rights.

Yes, just as nasty as some comments on chikin ranch. I think gays should have a union so they can have equal rights under the law, I'm just with Cathy on his comments that it shouldn't be a marriage, or called marriage as marriage is one man and one woman (to me and him both apparently).

I think it's a shame my 3rd cousin and her partner will not get what is due them when one passes away because they don't have a legal union of some sort....40 years is a lot of time to invest and not have benefits.

if the company doesnt discriminate, who cares what the workers or owners 'believe'

free market means if you dont want to buy it you dont have to and it doesnt matter why you dont want to buy it

I dont really get the point of making the product choice on something other than the quailty of the product

if something is a good product, unless the proceeds are going to commit genocide or something absolutely awful,,Im gonna buy it

so,since they are in Business they haven't got the right to voice an Opinion?
Then the Boycotteers howl about DISCRIMINATION!rofl

Im cool with people spending money where they choose.

It cuts both ways, sometimes people may not want to spend their money at a venue, but sometimes people who own the venues dont want certain peoples money (imagine that)

I don't see it that way. The way I see it is that many people seem fine with the boycotting and being against the companies I listed above for not being bigots, yet they get upset when people stand up against what chick fil a thinks. Why is it ok to speak out against gay rights, but not for them?

Gay, straight, bi, whatever, money is money. Why turn customers away by mixing business with politics? How studpid can you get?

intelligence is not always tied to a profit focus

there is also integrity, which often costs people money because it pays better to have no morals and just 'live and let live',,,,so noone is offended

and integrity can also MAKE money from people who respect it, for instance, people who may now START to patronize Chick fil a BECAUSE of this particular stand

remember, when we dont STAND for something, we fall for anything, and money should never blur our decisions
