I did not say social networking was dying I said Facebook was dying. Do you ever wonder how FB makes money? They are nothing more than an advertising company. Have you ever purchased anything advertised on FB? probably not. I get the idea behind companies spending advertising money with facebook, it looks perfect "Hey there's a website out there that 500 million people visit and 50% to 60% visit everyday, lets advertise there". But what happens when these companies realize people do not log in to FB to buy something? What happens when they do not see a return on their investment? Money stops flowing, when the money stops flowing the site becomes to expensive to run for free, when it becomes to expensive to run for free they will start to charge, when they start to charge people leave. Good luck to FB in May but I just don't see them flourishing once they go public.

They recently bought Instagram for @ $1B. If they were dying, I don't think they would have done that.

I think over the years they will fall, like Myspace and AOL, due to their size and complexity, but they're not going to die anytime soon.

Myspace is still alive, AOL is still alive. They have dropped significantly over the years, but they are still alive today.

Here I will sum this up on one quick fact:

# of internet users in america = 206.2 Million
% of said users on facebook = 71.2%

That leaves a grand total of 28.8% of internet users who do not use facebook. Now from a marketing stand point those numbers do not equal a profit. Ever heard of buy low sell high? SELL BABY SELL!!!!! Look at the numbers, watch come May when they have to release their actual profits. Their stock will soar quickly out the gate but for every action the is an equal and opposite reaction. So I give it atmost 5 years and you and I will be saying "You remember when I use to write you on facebook......god that was like ages ago"

America is not the only country that uses Facebook or the internet.

Buy low sell high has nothing to do with it. That only applies to day trading in the stock market.

I was taking a small part of the bigger picture to explain to you the trend of what happening. Obviously the US is not the only country using FB but using the US as an example is a good barometer for how FB is trending through the world. Again buy low sell hi is a metaphor for the advertising world. Advertising companies do not spend millions of dollars on a company that is not growing. The trail of advertising monies works very much like the stock market being they want to be apart of a trend as it is on its upswing. Once they feel they have successfully rode the wave the entire way through they jump off.

P.S. sorry I know I just referenced surfing there and no I am not linking surfing and FB as the same thing.

P.S.S Buy low Sell hi refers to long term stock as well not just day trading.

I personally find FaceBook a major waste of time.

Abd wat too much of it electronic gossip if not an outright invasion of privacy.

I got way too much unwanted inquireies from bored people who I was not that interested in being friends/family with in the first place and I really would not tell my personal business too.

Too many are prima donna's that get their feelings hurt because they tell you something on FaceBook, or have just posted it in vague terms and are convinced you know what the devil they are talking about , which the majority of the time I never see, then are mad that you did not respond.

And Sorry I could care less if my fifth cousin on my outlaw side just got their driver's licenes revoked and are bored setting in a DUI class or the neighbor's cat has eight kittens. And the Dumb games they come up with border on preschool antics.

Maybe it has some business applications but from what I am seeing there is a lot of abuse by empoyer's, ex's,, con artists, business competitors, and so called friend's that use it as a venue to collect and or distribute information about you that may or may not be accurate and use it against you.

I have seen several posts that I knew were an outright lie and the sad fact is some people can twist the God' honest truth around so much by implication and insinuation or ommission so you would swear they were lying and it is just manipulated.

But if it is posted on your page you probably need to to disclaim it. I can say enough stupid stuff with out any help lol.
