What makes you like where you live? If someone came to visit, what would you show them? It's up to you how you answer. |

What makes you like where you live? If someone came to visit, what would you show them? Pretty much just the glorified state pond. :P There's some nice places around here, and the state park isn't bad. I don't like where I live. I would much rather be down south though. What's keeping you there if you don't like it? |

"Mg - What's special about it, though? Any places that you usually show to new people? The picture looks like it lists some hotels, but that doesn't say much to people who don't know anything about them."
You sound like you haven't been here, or at least been here in a while. I have been traveling here since the mid-eighties and lived here since 2004 and have to say I am still in total awe of the area. Saying hotel is one thing but saying 5 star resorts is another, and that's what the places around here are now. I live 1 mile from one of the coolest intersections in the world (Flamingo and Las Vegas BLVD). It blows my mind when I think that this is my every day hang out. Vegas on one hand is a town of over kill and on the other one of the most relaxed places on the planet. Vegas is maybe the only big towns that has the entire economic range built in to the lifestyle. Meaning you can live here or visit on a dime or live here on the Ritz and both co-mingle. Four wheelers park beside Lamborghini in harmony. In some of the other major cities (which I have lived in and love) it takes you a half hour to get a few blocks. Here your on a beach, in the mountains, on the strip or in the desert in that time. |

Well, this thread was about what is special where you live and what you'd show someone who came to visit. I guess I should have specified that meant someone who didn't know the area. And no, I've never been to Vegas. |

What makes you like where you live? If someone came to visit, what would you show them? Their actually isn't a lot in my town. As for tourist attractions, there's a Castle and maybe this old place where Vikings lived years ago, that's about the height of it. If I was to meet someone new and take them somewhere, I would go to Dublin. Lots to do and see up in Dub. |

There is nothing but the dead and dying back in my little town (Simon and Garfunkel). The only thing that makes it special is the fact that I live here! Anyone lived in a Pretty How Town with up so many floating bells down... (e.e.cummings)

Hmmmm, theres not really that much where I live, except a lot of space.
I could take them to the outback, show them snakes , crocodiles, kangaroo's, lots of crawly things, heaps of empty spaces, beautiful beaches ( that you can't swim in, or you will be eaten by the crocs or stung by a stinger. |

There are 110 lakes in a ten mile radius. We would visit one or two and I would take you to the Cascades, a man made waterfall with laser lights that change according to the music that's playing. Then we would have to go to the Parlor for amazing ice cream. I get the turtle sundae with fresh roasted pecans.

I severely dislike where I live. It's one of the hottest places in the world. I can't wait to get outta here! However, going further north in central and northern AZ it's much nicer. Great weather up there and plenty of space to play in. Living up north puts ya pretty close to the Grand Canyon, too.

Orange county CA, aside from some of the plastic, self focused people, you can get to the Beach, Mountains and Desert in 2 hours or less. LA for culture, Hollywood clubs, hookers and freaks, Tons of entertainment, Food & Drinks. Disneyland, knots and Six Flags Magic Mountain, 2 hours to San Diego, 4 hours to Las Vegas or the colorado river in AZ. Lots of lakes for fishing
