Yeah just strap a gun on everybody. That is such bullchit. I agree on protecting your home but I don't want a bunch out on the streets with them. People can't act right without a gun. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't know how to act right with one......

That will help with this problem. |

That will help with this problem. There are environmental factors in play that cause these kids to snap, poor oppertunity for a future is one of them. Typical police state mentality is to do as you suggest. I can only imagine the political points that would be scored if this kid was a mexican immigrant. |

Ummmmmm, every school has school police or security. They just arn't all armed. ie useless in these kinds of situations.
Also I dont know about the school you went to, but mine was small ~ 300-400 students and we had 1 officer, and 1 security person. The sad truth is either we make schools prisons, or we bring back personal responsibility and remove the predator zones . . . oh I mean gun free zones. My high school had about 1000 people. No security. |

No security. The school I went to in Arkansas had no security. Every boy carried a knife. Some of the teachers had guns. There were no knife fights, no shootings, but the occasional fist fight. The idea that we need a nanny state to keep us in line is offensive to say the least. |

Yeah just strap a gun on everybody. That is such bullchit. I agree on protecting your home but I don't want a bunch out on the streets with them. People can't act right without a gun. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't know how to act right with one...... my thoughts exactly,,,,, An armed society is a polite society. 100% of criminals think they can get away with it. A % less than that are correct, if more people carried firearms the % would be lower. Fact: Most people do not want to kill someone. Fact: Most of the folks you are worried about share the mentality of the criminal and never concern themselves with getting caught doing bad things because police are so spread out and most violent crime goes unsolved. If we had less sheep and more sheep dogs less wolves would prey on our society. These are really simple facts of the environment, they do not change becuase someone writes down a rule and expects people to follow it. Responsibility starts with yourself. Consequences that EVERYONE, criminals AND law abiding citizen both respect only come from the environment. Poke the tiger: get eaten, we all respect that. Step on the snake: get bitten, we all respect that. Pull out a gun in public with dozens of armed citizens: get shot. * A 1982 survey of male felons in 11 state prisons dispersed across the U.S. found:[21]
• 34% had been "scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim" • 40% had decided not to commit a crime because they "knew or believed that the victim was carrying a gun" • 69% personally knew other criminals who had been "scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim"[22] Imagining what you want does not change these facts. Many people want all weapons to magically disappear, well sadly there is no magic. What we can change is the ability for personal responsibility and common sense to overrule the emotional magical thinking. ego and a temper either. Egos and tempers tend to flee back into hiding when EVERYONE can stand up for themselves. Bullies do not do well in an environment without sheep.
This is why an armed society truly is a polite society. Only the mentally deranged or truly desperate try to attack a clearly armed person. This set of individuals happen to be the same set who tend to do these kinds of school shootings. So arming people will not deter this type of attack, in fact nothing will, however the people who are armed can stop it by using the firearm. There is no other solution, the environment dictates effective and ineffective action. Guns equalize force. When a person chooses to use force to effect an outcome they are bypassing reasoning. When you equalize the force equation then they have no advantage, and are just as likely to die as to succeed in forcing there desires on others. Having a gun equals the force equation and makes it so that in order to get what a person wants they must use reasoning or risk death. This is the keystone of civilization. Use reasoning or risk death. |

These events to me are more a symptom of our rotten society than the lack of security. Jusst imagine the world these kids are comeing into no jobs no future, I am not saying its any excuse but I am not at all suprised someone flips out. |

I just do not understand how we can ALL agree that we all respect the snake for its venom, we respect the tiger for its claws, we respect the ocean for its power, but we do not universally respect the gun.
On one hand we have people who will scream to protect the snake, protect the tiger, but then scream to remove the gun. I would love for someone to explain to me why restricting access to guns via law is effective to prevent crime. Given that by definition criminals ignore law I want to understand how this is logical. How is removing the ability for the law abiding to protect themselves from violence is good? De-claw a cat and send it out into a violent environment and tell me you did good. The anti 2A activist wants to change the environment. Tell me how you intend to allow the cat its freedom, and guarantee the environment wont hold violent and dangerous things. The reality is that these two factors are at odds. Freedom cannot exist were the answer is to reshape the environment. You lock the cat inside, you do not allow it outside, you prevent danger by restricting freedom. |

Yeah gunfights on the streets. It would be like cowboys and Indians. Sounds like fun to me. I say we do this. I know some brothers around here that carry legally. There ain't no way in hell they should be carrying a pistol.... |

true. Im not for a militarized environment either. Nor am I for arming every tom dick and harry with an ego and a temper either. Seriously I want someone who is against armed personal defense everywhere and anywhere to explain to me how anything they propose could possibly have an effect on this kind of situation. The gallery gets quite when serious issues challenge their world view. Yeah gunfights on the streets. It would be like cowboys and Indians. Sounds like fun to me. I say we do this. I know some brothers around here that carry legally. There ain't no way in hell they should be carrying a pistol....
So you have gun fights in the streets? Those "brothers" carrying shooting themselves in the streets were you live? 43 states have open carry as a legal option. I carried a holstered pistol on my side for 2 years in North Carolina. Do you want to know the number of gun fights I saw? None. I carried a .44 magnum on my hip through the worst section of town, had "brothers" staring left and right, but not a word said, only reason I was there was to pick up my vehicle after it was towed. Have you seen any gun fights anywhere other than youtube? I doubt you have, in fact if you had and still were anti-gun then Id say you are delusional. No sane person wants to get shot. Criminals go out of there way to target and ambush unarmed victims. Seems to me those "brothers" have more sense than you. They understand the environment better than you do, they understand that to protect yourself you need claws. Please explain to me what you think can affect a change? More laws restricting people who abide by laws? More of a police state? Personal responsibility is really the only answer. There ain't no way in hell they should be carrying a pistol.... Says you. What makes you the guardian of he who can defend themselves?
Unless the person is a violent felon there is no reason to disarm them. Edit, or mentally deranged. |
