It's for times like that why I usually have
at least one back-up pc.

You, you pull it out, right at the funeral?

Of course! The dead one is well, dead, so it don't mind and the live one gets a glimpse at his future if he would decide to crash and burn.

I swear by netbooks. They are $180 around my area, and they do everything I expect of a computer to do. I need a screan for them, and a keyboard, and an external CD drive. In the US I am sure you can buy one with a built-in CD drive.

These babies are also good for saving money and time on virus protection. You don't even need to turn the virus protection on-- you don't pay for a year, or even beyond that, because the moment your computer acts up or behaves sluggish or unstable, then you back up your data and reformat the disk and the replace the operating system, to the condition in which it came out of the factory. It takes five minutes of work, and an hour's waiting time for the computer to reinstall and start up the operating system components and built-in programs.

You don't need to fumble with disks and putting them in the drive and out, because the reinstallation program with all its acoutraments are resident in the hard drive, in a partition that never gets erased and never gets overwritten.

So fo $180 I get a computer, for $20 I get a keyboard and mouse, wired or wireless, $20 an external CD drive, and for $200 a huge screen, with LED so that response time is not an issue, refresh is not an issue, and it does not heat up the room in the summer like an oven.

I mean, for $420 I get a nice computer that fits in a knapsack, so I can lug it to coffee shops and to the butcher, at home it's perfect to watch movies on it for a guy and maybe a girl-attachment, it has built in WII and WI-Fi so you hook up to the internet with a click, etc. etc. etc.

I'll never go back to desktops or even to laptops. The screen has a TV input, so I can hook up anything to it -- MDV, DIV, RGB, WRY, cable or even capable. (I went wild-hairy here, this was the silly part.)

Thank you all for your well wishes :-)
He spent a comfortable night.
He is now sitting up.

He is calm and looking forward to the
trip to town to fondle, er, study new
computers. (He is taking a rectal
thermometer with him just in case he
can find a REAL hungry salesman, the
mailman plain refused.)

We wish him well on this journey.
Updates will be made available
on his condition when warranted.
He is able to read your comments
from his android.

Please try and be upbeat.
If he is to pull through, he will
need your support (boobie pictures
he finds real encouraging.)
Come on kristi, it is for a good cause.

Again, thank you for your thoughts and
prayers.
It is in the hands of fate.

LIFE BEFORE THE COMPUTER

An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
A cursor used profanity
A keyboard was a piano!

Memory was something that you lost with age
A CD was a bank account
And if you had a 3 1/2 inch floppy
You hoped nobody found out!

Compress was something you did to garbage
Not something you did to a file
And if you unzipped anything in public
You'd be in jail for awhile!

Log on was adding wood to a fire
Hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived
And a backup happened to your commode!

Cut - you did with a pocket knife
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider's home
And a virus was the flu!

I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper
And the memory in my head
I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash
But when it happens they wish they were dead!

Wow, thanx Wux. I was thinking about getting one of those Netbooks and you helped me decide.

Soufie, has there been an autopsy? Why did Krupa's puter die? I hope he finds a new one soon; I recently got back online and Mingle is just not Mingle without Krupa!

I know huh, thanks Alterette :-)
No autopsy, I am sure they await toxicology..

Update:
He has purchased a Kindle something-or-other,
I believe he took Wux's advice.
He is powering it up as we speak, may take some time.

Prognosis=favorable.
Okay, he will still expect max capacity sympathy, so..
Hang in good people, we can pull him through!

Nice Leigh and Terry, I am sure after
seeing your posts he went away from the light.
Ghostrider, do you have an inside track there?
