need is an addiction
addiction is destructive behavior so it is better to be wanted than needed |

? So you're addicted to things like oxygen, and that's destructive? An addiction is more of an uncontrolled/unmanaged impulse/urge.

? So you're addicted to things like oxygen, and that's destructive? An addiction is more of an uncontrolled/unmanaged impulse/urge. yep and if you have a need for someone then it is an addiction to that someone you can always find a loophole if you look hard enough and if you have to go where there is no oxygen then your addiction to it causes you to take it with you thus you o2 tank can become caught on something or run m t then that need for o2 has lead to your demise and yes that is destructive |

I usually think I need someone when in reality I just want them. And by the time I figure that out, My pride kicks in and I stick it out waiting for the needing them part to kick in. But then it doesn't and I feel bad. Vicious cycle. :)

Everyone needs oxygen. By your logic, that would be saying everyone is an addict. |

need is an addiction addiction is destructive behavior so it is better to be wanted than needed Need is a need. Want is a want. Confusion of the two is a constant. Need - cannot live without. Want - can live without. 'Needing' someone means you will, literally, not hypothetically, die without them. As stated above, that is a destructive behavior. 'Wanting' someone means you can 'live' without them; however, you feel incomplete without them. Again, like stated, wanted is better than needed. A stalker, is an obsessive person who 'needs' someone when in reality, that 'need' is just a want. A highly driven addictive want. So, by those standards, we can separate the two. Oxygen. Water. Food. Sleep. These are the basic 'needs' of a human. Anything else, material and in cases otherwise, are all 'wants'. |
