Alright, I just had my computer fixed up recently and lately I've been getting weird freezing problems. It can't be the memory, I handled that in heaps since I got it back so it could run faster. Now, when it connects to Wifi it fudges up. Things freeze up like crazy and I am forced to push what I don't wanna push. Ugh, I just had this thing fixed too!! I am not doing anything illegal as far as files and download go. I haven't downloaded or installed anything since its been fixed. Even when I open up Micro. Word to write something it kicks off without even a bubble window letting me know anything. I've had to reboot the phucker a few times just to see wtf the problem was and if I could find out in safe mode. Oooooo, so angry here. mad Sheesh and all I wanna do is write and do my homework. Computers=666

Do you guys have any suggestions what's wrong with it?

Is it over heating? Also, are you sure nothing is running in the background that doesn't have to run? What about security scans? Have you kept your computer updated and scanned recently?

Not at all. I don't even hear the fans go bonkers like it was before it was fixed. Far as I know, I normally keep up Mozilla and will have Word opened up in the background. I normally don't keep more than two systems running just in case it gets overwhelmed. Hmm, there were a few security systems installed before I got it back. An anti-virus one that's always working it seems. I did notice one of the program/plugins I had running had stopped working when I opened up Firefox. Found that weird. And this happened after the entire computer was updated. Minor problem though.

I just did an automatic update the other day moments before it started to freeze up. I was told to lol Garsh, I dunno what it is. Heeelp?

You have several security programs installed on the system? They may be causing the problem, conflicting with each other.

There's only two I see here, one for sure. Kinda looks like a castle icon. Microsoft Security Essentials and another one, Super Anti Spyware. It was asking me to update the spyware all the while the essentials was running. Could that be the problem? I feel like my comp has a double condom on or something. Is this bad for it? Protections are good no?

I'm not sure about Super Anti Spyware. Check with them and see if they're compatible with MSE, it should be on their site somewhere. If not, I would get something different.

Protection is pretty much required online, but having two security suites on the machine at once is not good, they will conflict with each other.

Avast! and Spybot Search and Destroy (NOT Spybot) are good, ZoneAlarm is a good firewall, if you need one, but if not, don't bother with it.

I use Avast! and Spoybot SD together on my computer and have no problems at all. Everything is fast and easy. I have a stock Samsung RV511. Best computer I've had so far.

I'll check. I'm sure its nothing, I just don't understand all these protection devices for the life of me. I was just doing what I was told when I got it back. Oh yeah, I forgot about the generic built in firewall, that bugs me every now and again to update. That I don't touch. I find all these protection devices a little ebie jeebie. I always had peer guardian and never had issues with it.

Your firewall slows you down, are you sure you need one? You shouldn't really need one.

Oh, I think you're talking about the Windows firewall? That's not a real firewall, you can keep that on and updated.

lol I dunno. I wasn't there when the laptop surgery was going on. I'm not really sure this computer needs any more protection then it already has. Maybe they are conflicting. I just hate when things freeze, usually that means something with a program on here.

Would those protection devices be compatible with a Sony Viao? Yours is probably new mine is about 5 years old.

The generic one does it automatically. I finally set it on automatic update. I don't worry about that. Just the new stuff that was put on here.

They should be. My computer is almost a year old, it was born April of last year. Sounds like you're due for a new computer, 5 years is kinda old for a computer.

I'm working on a sugar daddy to foot the bill for me.

Gotta save my moneys and make due with what I have until then, it starts freezing every few hours. A bit annoying yo. :/

What do you suggest I get? There a good notebook out there that does the job?

Could be getting too hot. It's a laptop right? If so, the vents are usually on the bottom and sides, try to keep it propped up a little so air can get to the bottom, allowing it to cool better.

If it's a desktop, make sure it's dust free and there's nothing too close to the CPU so it can get air flowing around to cool down.

It's not recommended, but when I had desktops, I would keep the case off and let a small fan run by it to keep it cool.

Keep it updated and make sure your security software isn't conflicting, and you should be good.

Yeah a laptop. Maybe, I feel it a bit warm. I'd take a fan if I could but I don't think Starbucks would allow that. I'd have to check on the conflict. Damn I wish I knew how to do this right. If I do something wrong, they both could disappear. I'd still be protected though, I think. There's always what I had before.

lol, you never know, they may not mind. They do have those things with fans to set your laptop on. Not sure if they are any good.

If what you had before was working, I'd revert. Esp. since you're already familiar with it.

Your computer freezing is tough to say without being there to take a look at it. I am not the most experienced at hardware...Though I know way more then the average person on the subject. I would guess what you are experiencing is most likely qa software problem...could be device drivers or something that gummed up your OS. The first thing I thought of was to re-install your OS and will automatically re-install your drivers as well. That will not definetly fix it... but even if it was not the source of the problem you would prolly notice improvements.

yup, reformatting would help, but you would lose everything.

You just got it worked on? Take it back and find out what they did and ask them very sweetly to fix it right this time, dag nabbit.

Baristas are pretty bishy, I could trwii, we'll see. The fans aren't exploding so all is good over there. And its not even hot or anything. I felt her up I did :)

Yeah, if I never had problems with what I was dealing with before, couldn't hurt to remove and add a new protection. Maybe I'll just keep ONE going on for now. But if it persists, I'll remove the rest of it. Updates are funny. Sometimes they happen RIGHT in the middle of my work and it throws me off.

Mirage has a good point about re-installing Windows though. If you still have problems, you may have to re-install Windows.
