so the tables have turned slightly. He wants to make it work. But I'm scared, I don't want to hurt him...I really like what I know about him so far...I just hate it that he's catholic. Every time we talk, I say it can't work and he says we can at least try to make it work. I don't know what to do :(

Modern Catholicism is pretty close to Protestantism now.

But it will be a problem if you're gonna have kids together.

Good point. You will always have to worry about the kids bringing you to show and tell later on. "And where your parents married?" "Oh, they were married in hell cause they believed differently". Other kids might make fun of them.tears

And that is why there is such a vast difference

between just having religion....

versus

having Relationship.

But Thankfully, denominational walls are coming

down everywhere....more and more..

in fact, a lot of different denominations everywhere, are

already meeting at one or another's church ...or....are

meeting to worship together in One Accord at the local

community centers ...especially at easter and christmas ..for

a whole community celebration of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ !!!

In fact, I have already attended several of these celebrations

of all denominations coming together in One Accord in my

area.....and my heart leaps with great joy to see this

happening...at long last!!!

This has been my constant prayer....to see this happen....and

it is finally coming to pass!!sad sad sad <<<happy happy tears

And the Presence of God's LOVE just fills the place where

people come together like that....to just lift up JESUS in ONE

ACCORD(instead of our differences )!!!!!!!

People are hungry for God...not religion!!!

People are actually sick and tired of religiousity !!!!

You DO know what to do, you just don't want to do it.

They will protest. Isn't that what Protestants do? The protesters will win out. Simple factoring. Moot point. They will cancel each other out. I am sorry but the argument is illogical therefore invalid. Much like when the wife votes Democrat and the husband votes Republican. Weak argument. Not worth fighting about in my opinion. It makes about sense as which end of the boiled egg should be broken in Gulliver's travels. But then it might explain Irish Catholics and Irish Protestants so I void my argument. I yield. Proceed in peace. You have the right of way.flowerforyou

I pray that you come to the answer that is right for you. We have these nagging questions some time that just throw us off. One question I have been curious about is why is it wrong for a witch to fly off the handle. I mean flying is flying, right?waving

If you do what feels good now, rather than what feels right, how long do you think that will last?

I think if you are having serious doubts about this then you should not do this. Seriously, I have a feeling you'll regret this later.

So I met this really nice guy online...and I'm starting to really like him...but he's catholic, and that goes against my religious belief to get involved with someone who isn't the same religion as me...what should I do?

You haven't even met him yet and you are wondering about your long-term future together? Meet him, then decide what you should do, as you are stressing yourself out over what may even be a non-starter.

And if you do decide to move onto meeting someone else, perhaps this has woken you up to the fact how important your denomination of religion is to you, and maybe just seek out people of your own religion.

The problem comes down to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It is not the same at all as going to a Christian Sunday morning church service. It can't be replaced. I think the closest to it would be Lutherans. That might be a compromise that works now that I think about it.

Oh wait! Episcopalian!! That would be the best of both worlds if you are willing to compromise.

Of course it really depends on whether or not he believes in Transubstantiation and if he does, does he believe it can only happen in a Catholic Mass by a Catholic Priest. If he believes that, then he won't be able to go elsewhere.

Our family line was Catholic for 500 years. We would rather fight than switch. Evolution in religion can be as slow as evolution in science in our case. Genealogy was easy though. Just pick a war. Any war. Sort of like playing cards.

Okay. Now you are going over my head. Touche.

Compromise can be a good thing. Otherwise you get this holier than thou thing. It can really hinder communication.

Transubstantiation is a doctrine of the Catholic Church. We believe that the bread and wine are actually changed into the body and blood of Jesus during the Mass. It's called The Consecration and is a very solemn and powerful moment during the Mass. Catholics believe that only a Catholic Priest can perform a valid consecration.

This belief comes from Jesus who stated "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you". And, he made it pretty clear that this was not a symbolic act, but a literal act.

Seems similar to the Eucharist.
