He's destroying our bill of rights and our constitution, I'd say he was blaming the founding fathers indeed!

A Muslim trying to tear apart America and it's laws MUST be difficult (thank goodness!)!

bill of rights and constitution are still in order,

of course, sometimes amendments make sense or other wise the civil rights era would never have happened,,,,

people do remember the constitution was created as a 'living' document that was free to be amended,,,,dont they?

on the topic of founding fathers and party politics.

However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.

GEORGE WASHINGTON, Farewell Address, Sep. 17, 1796

Good game.

^ True. He was kinda forced to do the national defense act because they slipped it into the military budget act.

The patriot act was a Shrub debacle, but only OweBummer can take credit for DEMANDING the NDAA INCLUDE US citizens or he would veto!

seems it was a lose lose for him with anyone that was looking for something to dislike about the decision in front of him at the time....

I'm no fan of Obama, and I'm a huge fan of the constitution.

But I don't really see him criticizing the founding fathers in that sentence. He's just saying that the system we have makes it hard to make changes quickly - which is true. It's also a good thing.

NDAA i do not know about.

However the Patriot Act needed a Presidential signature during Obamas watch.

He could have vetoed it.

But as he is part of the machine.

Why would he?

I thought Patriot act was signed a decade ago in response to 9/11

the NDAA was part of the Defense spending bill and an extension of the aleady enacted AUMF,,,

Patriot Act (becuase of some strident objections by at least one Congressman) was one of those measures that need Congress to act on it again after a certin time.

Obama had taken office when that second chance came up.

He should have stopped it.

It has a very high potential for ideological misuse. (depending upon who has the 'regulatory' oversight).

Just as does the Health Care bill have a high potential for ideological misuse.

Such as forcing a God based organization to go against that which they believe to be from God.

And allow people to murder innocent humans (before they have even drawn breath).

I havent read anything about Patriot Act needing further action, even when reading the bill summary at the government site

Id be interested in a documented account of it being revisited and re signed by OBama,,,,

along with what other details were in the bill that would have been VETOED if it had not passed,,,,

There are many people of principle in both parties in America, but there is no party of principle. They're a bunch of yo-yos. The presidency is now a cross between a popularity contest and a high school debate, with an encyclopedia of cliches the first prize.
