Topic: Should main pics be "real?"

Should your main photo be a real photo of you, and not a cartoon caricature (sp) or any other thing, like a dog? I don't know, I feel my avatar is a good depiction of a scatter brained balding hippie...what's the answer? Maybe I should ask Dr Luv????

An avatar can give clues to a person's likes and personality.

Yes and no. I think if you are looking to date, then it's best to have a real picture (although not mandatory). It does tend to increase your chances But for someone like me...I'm only here for the forums so people don't really need to see a real picture of me. I have them on my profile set to private in case I ever change my mind

I've gotten several messages from people either commenting on my main pic, or asking where it's from, same with other pics I've used...they make great ice breakers.

'tis not possible. I think this is what was sort of being brought up in that other thread as well about different pictures for forums.

I would have been happy with no picture at all. But I think no picture keeps everything in the cyber world..unrelatable, untouchable..unreal. Hard to connect to an avatar. All about how real you want it. It's great if you don't want the visceral connection.

Some of them are kind of funny. Let's take travel arranger for example. If you pretend your talking to a dog in a party hat. It makes you laugh every time. otherwise I like regular real photos to see who I am talking to.

I don't mind the avatars to a point.... But, when I have known someone for years....and I still go zero idea what they look like...I just assume that they are some completely f**ked up freak and then just go back to chatting with them.

Yes I do think main picture should be real.. So far today I saw a hampster, banana tree and frozen trees. When I went to porfile there were no other pictures. Bad move. I look for a smile in a picture of a person. Avatars are ok. But a picture is worth much more.

Except the cow photo was actually pretty funny. It took a little imagination though.
