Topic: Do you believe profiles? | |

psssst... it's much easier to read if you're not typing in all caps. I was thinking the same thing. |

I actually do believe in profiles, of course I only read those from women and we all know women are more honest about themselves then men are. |

Visiting & reading profile is really a boring job.I just can't read more than two lines.Rather I prefer to interact with them through mails. It's kind of more lively interaction & again saving of time too.If the person is not really interested in my friendship,I get to know it immediately as I'm straight to the point always while interacting.
Seldom any one ever asked me to read in their profile for getting the information that I asked. If somebody asks to then it's kind of insulting for me & I take it as an egoism Same is about writing something in my profile. It is almost blank, but whatever is there is strictly true. |

Do i? No, never do. I always like to assume instead. Lmao. Kidding. I have no choice but to believe the person's profile. I only assume any different by someone's body language.

Otherwise, I wouldn't have any reason to contact them to begin with. |

Well, yes. Meeting people through the forums is different. If that's the case, then I don't really worry about what's in the profile and just look at it to see what they say. I was talking about if I'm looking through profiles and contacting people that way. |

Well, i believe in profiles more than i believe in Santa Clause. Heh. I'd believe profiles a lot less if i couldn't see them. I never believe in meeting up and THEN talking to them without much contact over the internet. I need to feel who they are, first. I only know that there is one guy i once dated, where everyone finally saw his true colours. My gran was annoyed at how he managed to pretend to be such a gentleman. It's a good idea to let family and friends know who your next lover is, just to keep yourself safe. There are many creepers out there. Just glad i'm not a naive teen anymore. Otherwise, i may have been easily led.

I just find it hard to believe that 112.8% of all people are "laid back and easy going." How does anything ever get done?

And don't even get me started with the long walks on the beach. |

I get messages almost every day from men who are either much older than me, or who are very far away, because they didn't think that what I wrote about age and location actually mattered.
Some guy just wrote to me now saying "we can be together ok" after I pointed out that he was on the opposite side of the country and I'm clearly not looking for anything long distance. |

Same thing here. I just got a message from someone who obviously HAS NOT read my profile, talking about how she really wants to meet me, blah blah blah. And there aren't even any blatant scammer-red-flags in it. I just got to the point where I stopped responding to those. |

I'm truthful with my profile, simply because I figure the goal is to meet people, and if you hit it off with someone they learn who you are sooner or later, however there is really only so much about a person that can be truely expressed in an online profile, that being said, what is in my profile is truth, but it's not everything about me... Then again, leaving some things unknown is good for later conversation.
I do find many do hide behind lies in their profile, especially with age. If you are in your 50s, you shouldn't tell people you are 25. Then of course there are those that post pictures of everything but their face. While it may be a person's real cleavage, Being able to see a person's face is important. believe it or not, you can tell alot about people just by looking them in the eyes. (which reminds me, I should take some new pictures, since the one I have, I'm wearing shades. lol) The truth is though that our profiles really only give us all just a limited idea of the people we see here. |
