Topic: HELP WITH READING AND UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE. | |
---|---|
To be able to understand why Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt & why God allowed the Hebrews to slaughter the entire race of different nations, you have to understand the dispensation of the time periods. During that time period in Genesis was at a point before Jesus came into the world. Therefore, there was no forgiveness for sins the same as now with the blood of Jesus. We are very fortunate to be living in this era of grace through Jesus. When God punished the people during that time in the Old Testament, it was without grace. When God told the people to do something, He expected them to do it. Not for His benefit but theirs. God didn't give us the law and rules of the bible to make our life boring or make us follow rules that He want that has no benefit to us. Do you see the consequences of when we break God's rules in our lives today and the way society is because of it? Lot's wife was punished the way she was as a reference and stern warning to obey Him so the rest wouldn't look back. I read Genesis twice, and ive got it now. Scary times! Im hoping Exodus is more fun! Hey, do you guys know how much God loves you??? He loves you thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much, and more! Hey Luv2, I'm so glad you've had a successful reading of the Book of Genesis!!! Also happy to know you are liking Exodus, too! Keep up the progess! You know me, homie! I will! |

"it works" and done that. And yes, its working, of course. But sometimes, I still have questions, about what ive read, and this is where, my brothers and sisters, help to answer those questions. God bless you. |

Ok, answer me this, if you can.
Why is it that when God sent, Aaron and Moses, to Pharaoh, and had them, throw down the staff, and make it become a snake, and turn the Nile into blood, and cover Egypt with frogs... Pharaohs magicians, were able to perform the same events? And why, could they only copy those three events, and not the gnats, the flies, the plague, the boils on everything, the hailstorm, the Locusts, and the plague on the first born Egyptians? And if I understand it correctly, did God harden Pharaohs heart, during more than just one, of those events, so that he would not free the Israelites, to really prove that he was God, in a bigger way? Instead of just doing one, or two, things to the Egyptians, to prove the extent, of his power? |

These men were trained in the occult. In the New Testament the Apostle Paul mentions the power of Satan to perform signs and lying "wonders"... "Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders," 2Thessalonians 2:9 In Acts 8, Simon The Sorcerer realized the power of the Holy Spirit was greater than what he had, thus he offered Peter and Philip money for that same power. John said, "Ye are of God,...greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." 1John 4:4, The ultimate magician in these last days will be the antichrist who will deceive, with "lying wonders", a massive number of people who refuse to believe the gospel. |

Now it makes sense. But im still not sure, why did God harden Pharaohs heart, SO MANY times, AFTER the magicians could not duplicate, what Aaron and Moses could do... so that Pharaoh would not free the Israelites? Was it so, God, could show more, the full extent of his power. Or was God, trying to show the extent, of his power, AND decrease the number of Egyptians, at the same time? What im saying is, God could have unhardened Pharaohs heart, after the magicians were no longer able to duplicate, what Aaron and Moses did. But instead, God chose, to bring much more upon Egypt, before he chose, to unhardened Pharaohs heart?? Why did God do this? Was it to demonstrate, the full extent, of his Gods power? The reason I ask is that, it makes God seem overly harsh, in proving himself, and his power, by hardening Pharaohs heart, SO MANY times? So, what im thinkin is, God was REALLY trying to demonstrate his powers in a BIG way, or he was trying to wipe out the Egyptians, or both. |

Jewish tradition always interpretted their Torah, they didn't take everything literally. It's like when the Israelites spoke of being defeated in battles, they attributed it to "God's wrath" or such for their idolatry or some other "infraction". Didn't that negate "free will". The "hardening" of the Pharoah's heart would have negated free will I'm sure. If you replace "God" with "karma", it may make sense to you, at least that's how I see it. |

Since I dont have Bible Study, available at my church, that I can attend, this is my Bible Study.
As I read the bible, I want to FULLY UNDERSTAND, what im reading, and not merely speculate, the meaning of what I read. So, I can come here, as I go along, and ask questions, as they come up. And I do, TRULY APPRECIATE, the participation, of all of you, who are in this thread, helping me with this. One lady said "ask God to help you understand, and it will be done". Well, im wayyyyyyy ahead of her. I have asked God, several times, wholeheartedly, to help me understand the bible, as I read it. And no, im not stupid, and I read very well. But that being said, although I do understand it, more, this time around, I STILL have questions. Thats where you all come in. THank you, and God Bless. |

And to try and digest a prime rib steak here before yuo are ready to, will cause you to choke here, Sweetie....don't want you doing that now.... Following me here? To be able to truly DIGEST the deeper meaning of God's Word, you will have to grow in God's Word a little more first. Just letting you know now.... Preferably seasoned Christians, who know, and understand Gods word, and the bible well. I dont see where you think im trying to take in too much. I just want to understand more, when im reading something, I dont quite get, and not just "assume" what I THINK it might mean. Thats my agenda here. I love you, Luv2 |

I left you a link explaining the question you asked earlier.
The question you posed earlier, is on a subject that usually requires a much deeper study of God's Word, in order to fully grasp(digest) its full meaning. That's what I meant by your not quite being ready to dine on prime rib. |

Ahhhhhhhh, o.k.

When u ask God to give understanding in ur readings believe it in ur heart, he 'll do it okay Its not the reading I dont understand. Its the events that take place. For example, one of my first questions here, was why did God turn Lots wife, into a pillar of salt, because she looked back. Now if I were to have just ASSUMED what I THOUGHT, I would have said it was because she disobeyed God, and that would have made God seem pretty hard-core for me. But HERE, I was given a different interpretation. That Sarahs heart was still in that sinful place, and thats why she looked back, and God was destroying that sinful place, and all who had their hearts in it, and Sarah was one of them, and she proved it by disobeying God, and looking back. I like that explanation better, than just "do it, or this is what you get". I understand a person must obey God, for he is the Lord of all, but I was trying to find the love in his action, and not just strict punishment. I read very well, and the words are not hard to read, I just like to be able to ask questions about what I have read. And I also get the opportunity to hear different interpretations, here. I found a wonderful program on the internet, where the bible is read to me, as I follow along in it. I get more reading done that way, and I also get to hear the proper pronunciations, of the names of people, and places, and some words, which is great! I am really enjoying the reading now! Thank you for your posts, and God bless! |

"That Sarahs heart was still in that sinful place, and thats why she looked back, and God was destroying that sinful place, and all who had their hearts in it, and Sarah was one of them, and she proved it by disobeying God, and looking back." Important note* No name was mentioned of Lot's wife. *Sarah was the name of Abraham's wife. |
