I give compliments often and boy, do I get some mean, ornery looks. From women that is. I guess they do not want to be told they look cute, pretty, beautiful or drop-down gorgeous. This day and age I guess I'm suppose to use words like Hot Babe or sexy.

Women have been hearing those 'compliments' from the age of 10, however. Often shouted out of moving vehicles encouraging a startle reflex. Often as we pass by dark alleys by drunk, dishevled men. So often, and for so long, in fact, it has becomes difficult to assume it is a kindness that is intended, rather than a possible threat. There is a physical danger associated with misunderstanding the sort of man who dispenses these compliments. Its too bad really, as I am quite sure the men who have posted here, are not among the dangerous ones. But it is the real experience of the female. So very true! |
