I think everyone has..areas where their capacities are limited. Some are on the outside, and you can see them. Others are inside, where you can't. Were it I, I would put EVERYthing out there that anyone might consider negative. Because it seems to me it may be far less painful, losing the ones I never met, than to lose someone after they discovered it. I also think personality can outweigh perceived flaws..I would not waste myself on people who cannot see the forest for the trees. Smart Answer, but maybe not. Not in my case, anyway. I have so many negative, disgusting, abominable, depressing, maddening, and confounding social and emotional qualities, that I never get a date any more. My fatness I consider one of my most debilitating emotional-mental disorders that stop me from developing healthy, loving, mu\tually satisfying human relationships. I have a huge personality, if you ask me, and yet the scale tips for the negatives... If I were only rich enough to put some cars, houses, and the entire Pentagon building into the same tray with my personality, well, maybe the scale would be balanced. Until such day that that happens, I guess I will just gawk at other men's wives, and morosely play with myself at nights. Wux, you need to write a book, it would rock, I just know it!!! |

All you have to do is read a few of my posts to know that, "the lights are on, but nobodys home". Im proud to say im a total psycho, and if you dont like it, dont look at me, or read my posts. Im easy like that! BTW: I take 10 pills a day, and 4 are vitamines, and one is a cancer treatment pill...so you do the math! Ohh, I think someone is home alright. It is okay to be psycho! |

Myself I would rather someone be honest with me if they have any disabilities. Why would someone want to hide issues then later be disappointed when the other person bows out due to they can not handle the situation? It is really unfair to both.
I just feel it is best to be honest and at least let the other one know what they would be dealing with. Let then have the choice if they want to take the relationship any farther. If they don't then both parties are better off going their own ways. |

"I dreamt of heaven the other night, and the pearly gates swung wide. An angel with halo bright, ushered me inside. And there to my astonishment, stood folks I'd judged & labeled as quite "unfit," of "little worth," and "spiritually disabled." Indignant words rose to my lips, but NEVER were set free, for EVERY face showed stunned surprise, not ONE expected Me!" - Unknown

Sorry but I don't agree with putting MY situations out there. Even though I state in my profile that I am not looking to get into a relationship at this time, I honestly don't believe it is any ones business what is going on in my life.
Sure, I have mentioned a few times about having cancer in here but I am in remission now. But lets be honest, when someone has cancer and they just lost a loved one from it..do you think they want to get involved with someone that actually has cancer? NO WAY!! I have a lot of medical issues and I am not going to sit here and list them in my profile and IF I do start talking to someone, I might tell them but then again, I might not...because I doubt I ever meet them. I do have a great friend on here that we talk in emails and we are going through about the same thing so that helps. If you feel the need to tell, go for it. It is your life and you don't have to tell right away....it is your choice!!! |

if you had a physical or mental health problem, how soon would you tell someone you had been chatting to and got along really well with? Would you tell them at all or leave it to a much later time? I think physical and mental problems should be discussed upfront. Not in the first conversation, necessarily, it shouldnt define who you are, but as soon as mutual interest in something more than chat becomes clear. ^this |

It is your life and you don't have to tell right away....it is your choice!!! I put everything out there, on this site,(my profile tells all) and regardless of how good it is, or how bad it is, my Mingle family accepts me just the way I am, and loves me, for just being me. I also survived kicking a drug addiction, with no N.A., no meetings, no family, no friends(in the real world)no help, other than my Mingle Family. My very first post here, was "No More Meth Mouth", and I shared with the entire site, that I had quit using drugs....now heres the amazing part. No one here had ever seen me here before, and yet I got almost 10 pages of support, from the Minglers on the post, and several emails of support from the Minglers. I also deal with being bipolor, which, as you probably know, includes ALOT of depression. But its hard to be depressed, when your laughing uncontrollably from your own, or someone elses jokes! So yeah, I put myself out there alot! But what I get back is far greater, than keeping things to myself, all the time, or protecting all my privacy! I am learning to grow here, and am still a work in progress, but I see sunshine ahead of me, instead of darkness, and rain now, and thats a HUGE step, for me! I the internet, because without it, I wouldnt have my Mingle family, and that would be devastating to me! I you Minglers! Thanks for blessing me with your love and support for 4 years! I couldnt have made the huge steps, I have made in that time, without you! |

if you had a physical or mental health problem, how soon would you tell someone you had been chatting to and got along really well with? Would you tell them at all or leave it to a much later time? I think this is a very interesting question and I went through many phases. I personally would not have a problem what so ever bringing it up. However, said that, I realize that it's a double edged sort. Yes, people should know who they are getting involved in. At the same time I feel very strongly that some personal information is a privilege and not every single person I am still getting to know is entitled to that information. Of course it also depends on the disability. If it's something obvious like no sight or you 're in a wheelchair you have to be upfront by the time you meet. Something like depression or a chronic condition that's not visible can wait until you get to know the person well enough, like anything else in life. |

After reading all the opinions here, I took my disability out as I am only seeking friends. Hopefully in Dallas as I have been here 1 year and don't know anybody yet.
It is obvious once you see my left forearm where my treatment access is. So I have no problems bringing it up, it is a fact of life for me. |
